How can it work without cell service? Is it reading from cache or something?
I am not in a suburban area of New York, and its about half a mile to a mile off.
Will report back when I go to New York later, as well from my school (rather rural area).

South New Jersey = 2 miles off for me. Are there any ways of this kind of app being more accurate? Is the locations in google on 1.1.3 any better?

Wow....
I just installed 0.4...... and...... I apparently now live 20 miles away! Wow, what happened?!?!?
And its in the cache now, so I live there permanently! Any way to clear the cache?

I stopped getting service after a month with GoPhone service. It now shows no service in the area with bars so my account is obviously closed out now too. I'm guessin that it can still find those cell towers! No cell phone service needed!!!!!!
Makes me excited as it means 113 maps might work to with both forms of locating.!!!!

Close, but no cigar, it got me to the otherside of the river and therefore it would take me 4.9 miles to get to my house from where it pinpointed. DOH! Hopefully 1.1.3 version of this would be a lot more accurate.

OK it finally worked, but was a few hundred meters off. Not bad though and now I really don't need 1.1.3.

Yeah, if your SIM is not active (account was disabled), it is probably still connecting/handshaking with the towers, only be told that the account is disabled, but nevertheless, it is still connecting, and thats all that you need.
You could try going into Field Test> Cell Information, if you want to see the towers. (Dial *3001#12345#* in the dialpad)
And I wouldn't update to 1.1.3 if I were you, that apparently disables GoPhone EDGE.

In case anyone asks, this does not work on the iPod Touch. Meaning you can install the application but when you scan, it just says failed. I wonder if they will have something like this for the iPod Touch?

You don't need the 1.1.3 anymore. I tested both 1.1.3 version and locateme apps, they are about the same accuracy. I live in San Diego and it located me at the street behind my house. Thats good enough for me!!!!Awesome apps!!!!
