The NES emulator has been ported to 2.0 and can be found on the Cydia installer maintained by saurik. Installation is a breeze via Cydia and the only thing you need to do post-installation is to put the ROMs into a directory (path must be var/mobile/Media/ROMs/NES) and permission the games correctly (755).

i tried to do this but i touched the perimissions of cydia and now cydia wont work on 1.2 any ideas. I changed to 777 then back to 755 and now it doesnt work

All these files inside Cydia.app need to be 6755 permission admin:root

I didn't change my folders at all just added them and mine work, I used cyberduck as my ftp client

The default password is: alpine
Within Cyberduck be sure you are using sFTP.


I installed NES.app through Cydia, and just created the appropriate folders, and dropped in the .nes files (rom files) via Cyberduck.. I didn't even mess with permissions.. all work perfectly.

BUT... It won't go into landscape mode... is this just a 2.0 issue at the moment? Anyone else running 2.0 that CAN get NES into Landscape mode?

that's my problem, being my first jailbreak I didn't know if it ever went into landscape but I know that currently 2.0 it doesn't :/

only cydia works on 2.0 at this time. however, if you are using an older firmware, you can get it on installer.

i dont even know what good games are for NES as i was so young when it came out. i only have a Galaga ROM. where can i find games?

Mario is a famous character for Nintendo. Try googling for Super Mario Brothers for NES. You should be able to find the Donkey Kong series ROMs as well.

And about ROMS, discussing where they are is considered warez; so stay away from that...
