Yeah if you'll "rotate" the controls layout 90º CW it won't be so bad.

That's why I was having problems. Downloaded Doom1.wad, installed and everything working great.
fistikal:
If you are on a Mac and using a FTp client like Transmit, Cyberduck, etc. find the application on your iPhone (in this case it'll be in ~/applications/Doom.app). Inside the Doom.app folder, find the actual Doom file, "Get Info" (cmd + i) and in the box for "Octal" change it to 755 (see included screenshot).

OK! this is pretty cool! got it all working! runs fast, but controls are weird. here's what i've found: the controls seem to be rotated (would've been okay if it still played in portrait), and two finger touch *seems* to be "shoot". great. now i'm killing stuff. BUT after about 30 seconds to a minute of playing, i get booted back to springboard. it happens randomly (or seemingly randomly), but always happens fairly quick. doesn't matter if i stay in the first room, or if i try to make a run for it through the level. i'm using the doom1.wad and i'm on 1.1.2. Anyone else have similar findings?

Is it possible for this to be made so that it can be downloaded and installed through Installer.app?
That would be pretty awesome..
