tazzy, thanks so much.
The sosiphone repo is the easiest solution to this problem. It is all in english, other than the preferences screen, which is minor, and you can figure out what they do by trial and error.
i'm running 1.1.3 and have been trying for ages to get this to work, and now its 100%...

I just tested this functionality to see if still works on my phone and it works fine, it emails a txt file with all the messages I've received or I sent - the only problem I have, which is just cosmetic really, when the phone re-start SMSD shows the total number of messages as if they had not been read but as soon as I open the application the number goes away. I'm running 1.1.3

This is how you enable SMSD Notifier and SMSD Default App preferences in 1.1.3/1.1.4. You need to run SMSD using ssh or Term-vt100. Run following command on the commandline :
# /Applications/SMSD.app/SMSD
This will start SMSD on your iPhone. Go to More->Preferences and change the preference you want. Since this is executed with root permissions, these changes will stick.
You need to restart your phone if you change default app preference.

I don't know about anybody else but I've installed it using both installer and SSH. The installer version was in French. I wanted to know what the menus said aside from "set as default" so I installed it using SSH from the website. I had to mess with it to get it to work properly. When I tried to run /Applications/SMSD.app/SMSD I got an error because it was searching for the lib directory in the wrong place.
I did the following:
that redirected the app to find the files it was looking for in the right place. I then noticed that when the app opened (even after restarting) that it wouldn't show the names, just phone numbers. I proceeded to do the following:Code:cd /usr/local/arm-apple-darwin/ mkdir arm-apple-darwin cd arm-apple-darwin ln -s ../lib/ lib
I then opened up the app without too many problems. The conversation view crashes with a bus error, i'm not sure why.Code:cd ~/Library/ mv AddressBook AddressBook_bak ln -s ~mobile/Library/AddressBook/ AddressBook
Hopefully this helps anybody that encountered these same problems.Last edited by crashspeeder; 04-14-2008 at 10:26 PM.
