I threw together a quick application to help set the home button double tap shortcut. Apple allows you to set the double tap shortcut to either home, favorites, or ipod - but the shortcut can be any app, and frankly any URL and even a particular screens in some apple apps or an email.

iPhoneHome lets you choose any of the applications in your applications folder as your doubletap shortcut.

It's simple, and purpose built. Not listed in installer.app yet. But you can get it here for now.

I'd like to suggest a feature for this app. If i am able to select a phone number either from favorites or phone book, so that when I 'double tap' the home button it starts calling that number. It will be very useful then. i know it goes to 'Favorites' then i can select the number i need to call, but if it can directly call the assigned number it will save me looking into the phone & one more click to dial my wife when i am driving. i don't know how difficult that is to implement but i think it will easy to do with selecting a phone number from favorites, than from the whole phone book.

one problem is you cant choose MobileSlideShow.app -camera or -photos.

Um not sure if i'm doing something wrong but in order to run this app i had to use squid to sit all files to 755 to load it..Well for somereason it will not actually sit a file..i have tried using guitar tuner,installer,summerboard but none do anything..When i hit save and quit it just sits there..Do you think i may need to use squid to set something to write? Im lost here.

Not working for me either. set all the permissions and everything. I've installed alot of other apps manually before with no problem. I'm also using Firmware 1.1.1 By the way, it will load the boot screen then close, just like Customize used to do. Anyone got any ideas?

edit: on a side note...when changing what the home button does through the default iphone settings, a soft reset is not required...perhaps its not required as of now either?

You can use Embark or OpenURL to make a certain contact a 1 touch dial app, if you do that you should be able to select that app from the home key double click

Apparently people are having trouble w/ this on 1.1.1 phones. I've only tested on 1.1.2. I'll see if I can get ahold of a 1.1.1 phone to do some testing w/.

Also, the launch strings for MobileSlideShow.app, camera, and photos is not the default syntax for the doubletap shortcuts. I'll have to make some changes to those as well.
