Mobile Chat 3 will be out on the app store soon, Way better than agile although it does not have any voip/skpe support.

Mobilechat wont be out anytime soon. It hasnt even been looked at by Apple yet. They are going to block it again i bet.

hehe, Agile messenger currently supports background operation. ie you can do something else while it is running, hence it can receive and alert you of incoming messages as they come in.
From what I heard app store limits background operation, so if agile messenger ever gets onto the appstore, it will only be able to receive live messages, while you are in the program.

I have one question... Will they ever port this app to be compatible with 2.0 firmware? I don't want it to be available through the appstore, due to their conditions and all the "not being able to run in the background" stuff...

I really hope they come out soon for the new firmware...i really liked the feature that if i didn't want to log into one account i could just turn it off....i bought the Mobile Chat on the app store and so far I'm extremely disappointed in it..

Mobile chat used to work for me, but if u change any options, after a time period of receiving messages, the program will automatically close which can be annoying.
Apart from the Mobile Chats GUI and features is substantially inferior to that of Agile Messengers.

When the servers are up it works really well. The program does not run in the background, but their server keeps you logged in so you can get IM's when the program is closed. There's support for SMSing or emailing alerts to your iPhone/Itouch to let you know when you get an IM while the program is closed. (it will also support apples push when its out) They are having problems with the server load right now but they are working on it, hopefully they will get those problems worked out and uptime will be at 100%

sounds like a great system! looks like 2.0 is looking better and better every day with more supported apps.
Interesting concept using Apples push, but in order to use push, one must be somehow continuously connected to the net, and in the instance of 3G, the battery life may suffer terribly with push enabled.

Is agile available for the 2.01 firmware? I can't find it installer...

Im worried about battery life too.
No one knows hows apples push will work, Jobs did say that a process on the iphone will always be connected to apples server. But maybe they might use some kinds of specialized SMS or something.
In mobile chat on AIM/icq/.mac accounts can use SMS to notify you of an IM.

Is this only in Installer? I don't see it in Cydia
Get "iPod & iTunes for Dummies", it'll change your life.

Come on people, we need answers for God sake!
This is the only app that would make me go back to 1.1.2
And please avoid writing about other messengers, we don't care about mobile chat, AGILE ROCKS!!!

it works on 1.1.4 too.. dont need to go back to 1.1.2 unless there's something special about it that I don't know.
