No, it records 5 seconds, and plays it back. The app is pretty much just a proof-of-concept, ie proving that it can be done and it looks decent.

I'm sure there will be a few updates to make it usable in the next couple of days

Awesome start! Can't wait to see this finished, been dying for this, hopfully it will have Start/Stop button and a place to save so it shows up in the ipod movies section.
