Google maps My location app
Dear Modders,
I checked and didn't notice that this app has been posted. It works pretty well got me about a mile from my location even when i'm out in the country side...
check it out
add http://www.sanoodi.com/iphone to the Installer.app sources, you'll need to go to Install, and under the Misc category you'll find the MyLocation app to install.
Cheers
Ridge

thanks, i used this too and it worked well for locating me but after that, what's the point?
Say you locate yourself, then you do a search for a store(in that location that "my location" put you in) and you wanted to find "directions to here." It won't work because the my location app doesn't recognize the address that you are at.

That is a bit misleading though, Navizone is a pay program. This mylocation app would be a temporary solution for most people until google and apple release it on the iphone.

Well, it is only beta. So hoping in future releases that it will have said option. In regards to Navizon, the only drawback is that it is not free. While I'll be more than happy to pay for a product, navizon is one that still needs to be much more refined before anyone is willing pay.
my 2 cents...

ok, i mean if they plan to develop the app to an actual address (even if it isn't perfect) i'd pay for that. I have donated to almost every "useful" app i have ever used.
It just seems like this one is "neat" just not "useful;" yet anyway.

Kinda cool, might be useful in a big city, when if becomes a little more accurate. It's about a mile off for me also.

two things:
1. I know that google asked them to stop. but if anyone who downloaded it could put it up on megashare or something, that would be great.
2. Just because they ask you to stop, doesn't mean you are required to. What they were doing might be perfectly legal. I would hope they are looking into this and not just taking google at their word.

defmute, I think the problem is the app "talks" to their servers, which then creates a kml file which is then display in the iphone maps app. If this is the case then the app is useless without the server piece up and running.
I was in the process of creating a similar app myself when this one was released which does not depend on an external server. Unfortunately, I don't want google breathing down my neck either (whether its legal or not) so it'll be for my own personal use. Works great as well. If and when google opens up their api for public consumption I'll release it...

Really - create this under an alias .... and ignore Google.
Google ignores the Cease and Desist order of Universal, Fox and Vivendi - why not give it back to them!
Seriously! I'm sure it was an idle threat .... AND their API is open ... and long as you follow the terms of use ... we use it all the time for client map applications.
