how many apps can we have?
I was wondering what will happen if i put more icons on my dashboard than it can hold. Will it scroll?

when i put more than four on, i couldnt find any way to find the ones that werent being shown. hopefully in the future we will have scrolling on multiple app pages

you can put at least 5 on the dashboard, look at some of the downloads available on this site ><
i believe the reason you couldnt see them was that you forgot to resize your images.

I also tried and found no way to scroll. However, if you resized the icons so 5 fit per row then we could have 25 total apps on the main screen. Right now I can only have 21 (4x4 rows, plus 5 dock).
08-08-2007, 01:27 PM #5Can we make a seperate Apps Menu?
I have yet to buy my iPhone. But when I was demoing it, I was noticing there was a bunch of crap on the dashboard (or whatever it's called) that I don't see using very often. Is there a way to make an 'Apps' menu and move some of the less used apps onto that. (Google Maps and YouTube).
Better yet, can I add bookmarks to the dashboard in addition to apps?

Yeah, I think that a system of sub menus would be the way to go here, instead of scrolling. I would love to be able to set up categories on my home screen for internet apps (google maps, youtube, etc), PIM, tools, etc.

I believe we can do this with applications. Make An Application that shows the icons for whatever app you want and links to it. Would in sense, create sub menus.

any update on this? This would be a cool addition.

You can use Launcher. If you have Installer on your phone, launcher is an option, and it will let you launch installed apps. I have not tested if you can launch ANY installed app, or just the ones controlled by installer.

No luck creating a sub menu here ...I do like the scroll option.
Where do you see a Launcher option in Installer? theres install, update, uninstall and Sources. Im using Installer v0.82
The screen with so many apps now ...is getting full...no room for all the apps..It would be nice to have sub/scroll option.
The scroll option in "settings" is the way to go if anyone could come up with one. The icons in "settings" are on the Left with description on the right.

how do you use the launcher?
08-12-2007, 01:51 AM #14
first install the installer, then choose to install the launcher. After that, any programs you install WITH the installer can be launched with the launcher.
Wow, I think I just confused myself there...

the launcher doesn't work right for me. when i have it installed and try to access apps using it, the only ones that work are the ones that show up on the home screen. any of the "hidden" apps simply blink at me when i select them through launcher and will not open.

how do you hide apps from the desktop that are in launcher? I don't need to see them on the desktop AND in the launcher.

how can i uninstal an aplication

if you manually installed the app, connect to your phone with SFTP and navigate to the directory...and use the tools that your SFTP client has to delete the app folder and files.
you can also delete the files and folder for an app using SSH. once connected, navigate into the folder for the app and delete the files. back out to the applications folder and delete the folder. BAM....doneBlack 16GB 3G iPhone w/bestskinever
