Safari plug-in for DOWNLOADING

Quote:
Now this is just amazingly cool. iPhone hacker hachu developed a download plug-in for MobileSafari. Once installed and customized, it allows you to download data off the Internet and store it on your iPhone or iPod touch local disk in the /var/root/Downloads folder.

I downloaded the package (it's variously on RapidShare and BadOnGo; see the hackint0sh thread for links) and gave it a whirl. Following the instructions on the thread for modifying the Info.plist file, I told the plug-in to download MP3 files. (I had to disable playback as well in the QuickTime plug-in--so make sure to read the entire thread!) Now back in Safari, when I navigated to an MP3 file and selected it, this green Download button appeared. I tapped it, and the file downloaded perfectly. Before, the QuickTime plug-in would have just played the file back in Safari.

Download Erica Sadun's modded send file app that allows you to playback downloaded files here.

Its still pretty sketchy, but for me, it worked with mp3s. At least with the installer source, you can switch back to quicktime playing it easier by just uninstalling and rebooting..

i think you only have to stop the safari service and start it up again according to post in the hacintosh forums where the plugins came from originally. But i like this thread better http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthre...t=18331&page=3

how do i install erica's modded utility? I download the file and transferred the SendFile.app folder into my iphone application folder. do i need to do anything with the _MACOSX folder?? cause using the just described method, the app shows up but when i open it, its a blank white screen and closes after a few seconds.
