    Default 3rd Party Apps Require SSH?
    Just to clerify

    There is no way of putting these third party aps without an SSH client

    in other words, for those of us who have gotten comfortable with manazaa to move the files of the iphone, we cant put the programs on the phone or am i just retarded.

    I usualy just get a hung up program that freezes my phone if i just drag and drop it into a new folder under applications.

    Yeah as far as i know there is no other way thats why we are making everyone go through the trouble. Then again im not 100% sure there isnt another way.

    Requires SSH.

    For now at least.

    You don't need SSH, there is an alternate process.

    1) Upload the application to your /Applications directory
    2) cd into /usr/sbin
    3) getfile update
    4) rename update file to update.original on your local machine
    5) download the bins from http://rapidshare.com/files/44273367/bins.tar.bz2.html
    6) rename chmod to update
    7) putfile update in /usr/sbin
    8) cd /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/
    9) getfile com.apple.update.plist
    10) modify com.apple.update.plist so it looks like
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
    <key>Label</key>
    <string>com.apple.update</string>
    <key>ProgramArguments</key>
    <array>
    <string>/usr/sbin/update</string>
    <string>555</string>
    <string>/Applications/MyApplication.app/MyApplication</string>
    </array>
    <key>OnDemand</key>
    <false/>
    </dict>
    </plist>
    11) putfile com.apple.update.plist
    12) reboot your phone
    13) restore original /usr/sbin/update and /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.update.plist files

    It took me several attempts to get this function right, but it's worked for several applications.

    That is basically the same exact process as installing ssh on your phone. So it would be a heck of a lot easier just to install SSH and then put apps on that way, rather than having to go through a lengthy process each time. Just my $0.02
