[ new app ] BossTool v0.2
Found it this morning, didn't see it listed here. BigBoss apparently released this tool, called appropriately, BossTool. Has several options:
- Free Disk Space: shows how much free space is available. ALSO, this lets you RELOCATE APPLICATIONS!
- EDGE Tweaks: (Doesn't do anything for me?)
- Baseband Tools: (Doesn't do anything for me?)
- iPod Wiper: (Doesn't do anything for me?)
- Activation Tools: (Doesn't do anything for me?)
- Jailbreak Prep: allows prepare to jailbreak 1.1.2 for an upgrade.
edit: According to THIS POST, which references Erica's blog, some apps won't work if moved to the media partition. BossTool moves all apps, so I don't want to do that until/unless I know BossTool can "undo" it, or that it won't brick my iPhone or anything.

Yeah, I saw it on Erica's blog, but thanks for the info. Hopefully developers will start having an option to install it where you want or something.

For me the easiest way to fix the space issue was this small guide from a member at the Hackin0sh forum:
You can see the original post here: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show...23&postcount=2You must move the Applications folder to your media partition.
This will avoid to have the system partition completely full.
You must ssh your iPod Touch and follow the procedure below (works also for iPhone).
Quote:
cd /
cp -pr Applications /var/root
mv Applications Applications.old
ln -s private/var/root/Applications /Applications
Now check the symbolic link
You should see the Applications linked to private/var/root/Applications
Quote:
cd /
ls -la
Restart your iPod Touch, if everything is fine, you can ssh again and delete the old Applications folder in the system partition.
Quote:
cd /
rm -rf Applications.old
Oh, and I just installed Terminal.app on my phone and ran the commands, rebooted and everything is working fine.- On T-mobile with 2.0 with help from Pwnage 2.0

AFAIK and can tell, there's no way to disable any of the menus. For me, however, the only ones that do anything are the free space and the Jailbreak Prep. I thought about uninstalling the app since I don't really use it, but the free space it useful enough to warrant keeping it installed.

If you want to know how much disk space you have left, install Terminal on your iPhone, open it and type df -h

I wished i could had, but i had wireless turned off and no Edge settings and SSH turned off.
Know i know before messing with new apps. I should leave ssh enabled at all times, here i am back to 1.1.2 8 hours later after fixing baseband ( 1.1.2 version and needed dif secpack to get 1.0.2 --- 2 hours wasted research ), and back from 1.0.2 -> 1,1,1 -> 1.1.2

BossTool v0.3 is out.. Does anyone know if this fixed the relocate applications option? I would try it but i wouldn't know how to fix it if it doesn't work.

I took a chance on this and now ever since I installed it, Installer no longer refreshes sources. Unless someone knows how to fix this I guess it's time for a restore...

12-09-2007, 01:22 AM #19Hi all, this is a work in progress. I am working on finishing it up but my "real job" keeps getting in the wayI don't know about it fixing anything, but there are now three different options available:
Relocate Wallpaper
Relocate Ringtones
Relocate Applications
I haven't used any of them, however.
I discovered a bug in 0.2 that I fixed in 0.3 where some fstab files had noexec flag for the /private partition causing the apps to not execute once moved (oops). Anyways, I fixed that. Let me know if there are further problems. I plan to implement the rest of the options within the next week or two.

Except I didn't restore, I manually moved the Applications folder back to the root directory and deleted the link the app created through SSH, thank God it worked !
