Evolution Robotics is now working and polishing up their soon to come application for the iPhone. ViPR (pronounced Viper) will allow you take a picture of any CD, movie or book, send it to their server, and automagically send you an email with links to YouTube, the iTunes Music store, and even Amazon.com.
ViPR is capable of recognizing objects through a picture and transforming them into information. ViPR can learn new objects and images (cover art on a music CD), without any special encoding. ViPr's database already indexes over 150,000 music CD covers, as well as other mobile applications providing info and links. There is no certain release date but it is said to be released sometime in June.

Don't really see what makes it "iPhone", since it works with any phone with a camera and email client.
It probably even works better with most new phones, since most of them have a better camera that the iPhone.
Not many phones have Youtube capabilities, and a real internet browser. Most phones have watered down browsers that only view mobile formatted webpages. So this is best for iphone, but yes it would work on a phone with a camera. Oh and one more thing. When you send from an iphone it comes from your email address. Other camera phones send it though the cell provider's email and that would cause problems with the pushback email you expect to recieve. So yes, this is IPHONE.

I can give it the iTunes integration, but the info you get within the email would work just as good on any other phone, and the youtube link would work on every Symbian S60 and WM-phone, i.e. phones with proper flash support.

Most - or dare I say all - phones with an email client support pop3 amongst other protocols, so this is definitely nothing iPhone specific.
Granted, on some parts, this would work smoother on the iphone that on most other phones, but still, it's their servers doing all the work, not the iphone.
that youtube is somewhat old. i guess they are just waiting for appstore to come out.
also, not sure why the whole song recognition thing can't come out now.
It's going to have song recognition? I thought it was only able to recognize something you take a picture of..
Yes, I think they're just waiting for the app store to come. They will most likely have it so you can take a picture and have it e-mail itself all in 1 app.
Can't wait to see the final.
