NetServices 0.1.4.3 Maintenance Update
NetServices 0.1.4.3 Maintenance Update available
I sincerely regret and apologize for the steady stream of updates today. Please be patient. - Greg
- AutoLock feature fixed to assure more consistent results.
Available on Installer and at the CopyCoders website.
Thanks for helping to make NetServices a better product.

The AutoLock feature allows you to turn off the locking (sleep) feature that you normally set in Settings > General on your iPhone. You are able to set it between 1-5 minutes or "Never". When your iPhone locks-down, it often drops its network connections. This is a problem for some network services (primarily SSH). Having the Auto-Lock feature in NetServices provides you with one spot to easily switch between your default iPhone Auto-Lock setting in Settings > General and "Never" assuring whichever network service you choose to use will stay open.

It seem like permissions issues for the whole NetServices.app folder is the problem. Please update to the newest version 0.1.4.3 and let me know if you're still having troubles.
Thanks,

Installed it, my findings:
* EDGE toggle seems to work! WOOHOO! GREAT. Stranger however that the "please wait" box appears, dissappers, appears for a second time, and then dissappears again. Is this what it is supposed to do?
* EXIT button doesn't do anything, it changes color when I press it, but it does not make me "exit" the program -> I have to exit using the HOME button.
* the version shows 0.1.4 instead of 0.1.4.3 (very minor issue)
THANKS for the quick updates!

Oh one more finding:
* when I disable EDGE with iToggle and try to start safari/stocks/.. I get a box "cannot activate EDGE" or something like that. When I disable EDGE with NetServices I don't get that box, but with stocks/weather I get an "update failed" in the bottom.

Yes the notification box is intentional. To disable /enable EDGE, CommCenter needs to recycle and this takes 10-15 seconds. Since NetServices is opt to become unresponsive during this time, a pop-up alert felt appropriate. It pops up a second time as the button reloads (future fix). You can dismiss the notification by simply tapping it (or waiting 10 seconds).
The Exit button does nothing more than exit the program (no scripts are run for instance), though it should work. It's likely a permissions issue. Is anyone else having this problem?
What happens when you try and adjust Auto-Lock?
All of these updates really fall under 0.1.4 so I left it as is. If you'd like to change it for your own sanity - open the info.plist in the NetServices.app folder. Change the string in the key labeled: CFBundleVersion to a different number and it will appear the next time you start NetServices (this will NOT effect installer updates).

In Installer > go to Sources
Tap Refresh
Update should now show 0.1.4.3 and install script should work

What happens if you try and go to Safari?
Are you running both apps? Disabling EDGE in one and enabling in the other will lead to problems.

Autolock seems to hang circle keeps turning when I want to enable it after disabling it.

No, I uninstalled iToggle, NetServices is the only EDGE-controlling app on my iPhone as of now.

I think we're dealing with permissions issues. There are scripts that NetServices can't seem to access in the ProgramFiles folder Are you familiar with setting permissions?
Sounds like EDGE is disabled. Re-enable and see if you can access a website.

hartsteins, unfortunately the latest update didn't fix the Samba issue for me
When I loaded NetServices and toggled Samba File Sharing to ON, and then Exited out back to the SpringBoard, then I loaded NetServices again it shows Samba File Sharing as Off. If I SSH into my iPhone and do ps -A I can see that smbd is in fact still running:
# ps -A
123 ?? Ss 0:00.20 /usr/local/samba/smbd -D
126 ?? S 0:00.00 /usr/local/samba/smbd -D
147 ?? S 0:01.03 /var/root/Applications/NetServices.app/NetServices --
156 ?? S 0:00.99 /usr/sbin/sshd -i
157 p0 Ss 0:00.13 -sh
158 p0 R+ 0:00.02 ps -A

Updated to latest NetServices, turned Edge off, and the E icon is still there. Used NetServices to turn off WiFi, and I get the "Cannot connect to Edge" error box, and NetServices shows "Searching..." for the IP address.

E Icon does not indicate service presence (confusing I know, but a different problem). WiFi off - EDGE Off, go to a website. Can you connect?
If EDGE is off and you turn WiFi off then the error box is correct. IP is searching for address and "cannot connect to Edge".
The fact that it cannot connect to EDGE means it is successfully disabling the service. Is the EDGE switch representing the service on or off status correctly?

Over on HoFo (LINK), ericdraven says the E icon doesn't show and he doesn't get the error dialog.

I do not have a data plan, so I only surf the web using WiFi, which means I can't really test that.
It does appear to be successfully disabling EDGE, however, but I thought you were working on making the EDGE icon not show as a result?

Hey Greg,
Got a nice feature request you may be interested in:
http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18331
This new plugin for MobileSafari allows you to enable/disable file downloading for various file types, including MP3s and such. In the thread linked above, you'll notice they've also included shell scripts for enabling and disabling the feature (so, if you'd just like to use the QuickTime plugin to stream the music, instead of downloading, you can). Basically, each time you hit the on/off switch, it would run a shell script and kill MobileSafari.app. The test for current state would be as simple as checking to see if a certain file exists.
I'd love to add a toggle switch into NetServices.app for turning it on and off. I wonder if maybe we could chat a little about the feasibility of this feature request, and if not for public release, I'd at least like to add it to my own personal copy of the app. Any help would be awesome.

Seems easy enough - I've contacted Hachu (the developer of this plug-in) to see if there's anything I'm missing, but I should be able to roll it into the next update pretty simply (more Samba fixes too). It may require that you install the plug-in via the CopyCoders repository to assure the scripting will work, but I'd generally prefer everyone did that anyway.
BESIDES - VPN
Are there other network services that people would like to see rolled into NetServices?
