FileBrowser - New Finder for the iPhone

Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size.

Developed by Stephan Bayer.
It's much better than mobile finder and you can cut, copy, paste, search, delete, unzip, set file permissions, and even use a nice html interface on your computer to upload files.

Get it from the iSpazio source and check out Stephan's website here

p.s. I'm NOT the dev. All credits to Stephan Bayer.
Needs Jiggy Runtime.
And, to use the file:// option, install the file:// patch from bigboss.
As for unzipping, it should work if you have cydia. Else, install 'unzip and unrar' from moyashi.

Nice app. Would be cool if they added recursive permission changes option for directories so if you change permissions of a directory every thing in the directory would change too.

It's a bit unintuitive to use at first, I agree. But I kinda like it. Yep recursive permissions would be nice as well as a way to tie it to avplayer. I told the dev about that. Hope he can do those. And something I really like is the web upload feature. If I'm at a friend's place or using someone else's computer I don't need to download winscp just to copy one file to my iPhone.

Is there an option to change permissions? I didn't find it after a cursory glance.

it was kinda slow for opening files on my iphone, and this morning i updated it (and video recorder and one other app that i dont remember) and i ended up with a non booting iphone (and no ssh or usb either :P )

but i have to guess that the one to blame was the 3rd app :P

Some Issues...

Bug (probably): I clicked on a file called "a.mp4" and renamed it to "a" (no extension), this file had permissions to execute... I then double-tapped the file, and the program locked up, (to the point that you could not hit home)... while I was typing this article the iphone rebooted (took about 5 minutes before it rebooted).

Something annoying: Picking the last item in the list is VERY difficult, I think you need to pad it with some dead space to move the item up because the iPhone is picking up things on the dock like "UP, or Create, of Settings" instead of the last item, (and I am being careful with making sure to hit only the last entry and it still mis-fires' Its a similar problem on the top-most as well, (but doesn't seem to be as bad) ... hitting the topmost item often sends you back to root.

I would say its a very good start, but I would not say better them MobileFinder yet, (IMO)

@IvanRaide Ye I always accidentally hit the buttons at the bottom. It really needs some padding. And also a way to not try opening files without extension. I think I need to tell the dev about this page so he can see your problems himself instead of me having to bug him everytime I see an issue here.
@Cocchiararo I don't think this app caused your problem unless u delete or renamed a crucial file.

Thanks anyway to you all. Keep the bugs and requests coming

p.s. He said he'll soon try adding recursive permissions.
