I know this is a paid App so I need to ask for more.

Please. Fix add the option to disable the intelliscreen while charging! Or allow a different BG skin while charging.

I like the clear skin while not charging but is unreadable while charging!

Ever since trading in my use of Palm Treos for an iPhone I've hoped that some developer would come along and replicate the functionality of one of the Palm Platform's most useful programs: Butler.

Coming across InteliScreen today I immediately installed it and began to play around with it. Unfortunately, I found the nasty IntelliDial with no favorites bug almost immediately, much to my dismay, but after a hard reset and playing around I discovered great things like resizing the windows (which is *painfully* difficult it seems), the ability to use a second screen, which is really necessary as any more than 3 bubbles (2 really) and the screen is too cluttered with information. Most importantly I found the Alert notices- FINALLY, a program that would bother me until I acknowledged that I know I received a text message, an email, or missed a call (this functionality possible?) As the iPhone lacks a LED (a huge design mistake in my opinion) there is no way to see if you have any messages, missed calls, etc without actually checking the lock screen manually. While easy enough to do, when your mind is elsewhere, it's just not going to happen.

Now I'm going to get a tad bit critical here and want everyone reading to understand that this is an opinion: it's not an attack. While I think IntelliScreen is a very good program, I don't think it is a great program at this stage. It does some REALLY great things that I've really wanted on my iPhone for a long time but what it does not do is anything particularly well. In my opinion it suffers from the capability to display just about everything you would want it to- but not displaying it effectively. Great in theory, not so much in practice. Additionally, it has a great alarm function, but it seems I have to launch the full program (ie email.app) to turn it's alert off- somewhat negating the need to even show a truncated message in the first place

Let me explain a little:
Using all it's functions leads to a screen populated with truncated SMS and email messages that have to be scrolled through every so carefully to be read and too few calendar items to really be of great use. The weather is a very nice edition but I generally just want to know how damn hot it is outside right now and don't really need to know what it's going to be the entire week. I love being able to just glance at the lock screen and see that my baseball team won tonight- but i had to scroll through 10 other games before I got there. I great being able to see the latest news but suffers the same problems of scrolling in a small box as everything else.

In my opinion it suffers in that you either a) have to open up the full program to get what you really need or b) have to search through the information there in a very small window. As mentioned above, the problem is further exacerbated by, what is in my opinion the greatest feature, the alarm functionality. Ok- the alert is going off and flasing blue- i check the lock screen and see I have a new email, but now I have to actually check the email in the mail program to make the alert go away. (Now i'm assuming this is a bug but even though I have sound and vibrate functions on and set to be used for the alert, neither is actually working for me). Essentially every time i get a new email, I have to launch the email program (being able to do this straight from the lock screen is fantastic BTW) to turn the alarm off so I know if something else comes down the pipes. If this is the case- it seems pointless to go through the trouble of telling me who it's from or the first few lines as I have to check it anyways. I'm assuming this kind of alert is similar to text messages and calendar entries (if not I apologize).

I think that Intelliscreen (or possibly a similar app) could really be an absolute killer app for the iPhone, but I just dont think it's the right formula yet. In my opinion, the whole "less is more" would really help out here as it would hopefully lead to the program doing what it wants to do better. Perhaps a version of Intelliscreen that combines the simpleness of the Apple notifiers on the home screen with an alarm? Apologies if this came off as a big rant or anything.

All

Thanks for the feedback on the 2.0 issues. 2.01 has been released on the intelliborn.com/cydia repository and will be on MMi's source shortly.

2.01 Bug Fixes
=======================
- Installation Dependencies fix for App not starting
- Selecting alert sound
- IntelliDial Screen without Favorites selected

Robb: I agree with your comments. Thanks for putting the alerts in perspective in terms of having to go into the full app to shut them off (except for calendar alerts - just unlocking the screen will clear them.) Marking new items as read and current weather are high on the to-do-list. I will push them higher .

I have question about the license of this application.

1 - Can it be transfered to another iphone ?
2 - For how much time the update to latest version is valid ? for lifetime ?
3- Why we are forced to buy 2 licenses ? cant we have an option to have cheaper 1 license ?

Thanks alot

Netuser: You can email license at intelliborn daht com with your old and new serial #'s. The license will entitle you updates through 2.x.

Regarding Alert Volume: It is currently using the iPod volume and not the system volume. This is a bug and will be fixed in the next release.

I'd also like to be able to disable IS while charging.

Ok, I'm into day 2 of my trial and I really like the POTENTIAL of this app. But I HATE the UI for customizing the screen, it's quirky, buggy, and difficult to use.

Is there a way to go back to the DEFAULT layout? I've resized my news feeds and the text doesn't flow all the way to the right of the screen anymore, no matter what width I make the box, the text only goes half-way to the right hand side.

I also don't have the taskbar showing up...tried uninstalling and re-installing...shows up in preview but...

iPhone 2G 16GB on FW2.0

All-in-all, I would pay for this if it worked reliably but I can't seem to get it to do what it's supposed to do. The feature list is great, but it seems for me a fair amount of them aren't working

EDIT: See post below

Been having an odd issue. My phone has been freezing at the unlock screen upon boot. It unfreezes after a couple minutes. It happens as soon as intelliscreen goes to load.

Disabled and the problem went away. Enabled and the problem repeats. Testing the new version...will post results.

Alerts Not Working

Love the app... but for some reason i cannot get the alerts to work for the life of me. I tried having just one on (vibrate, flash, or sound) and having all on at the same time. Either way, I can't get any of them to work for me. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks a lot in advance.

I seem to be having a strange problem with my email when this app is installed.

Phone is a 16 gig 3G iphone.

Here is what is going on. When I don't have Intelliscreen installed, my fetch email on my phone works correctly and checks mail every 15, 30 ect minutes. Whatever I set it at. All is fine.

Once I installed Intelliscreen, my fetch email no longer fetch's. I have my phone set to fetch mail every 15 minutes, and I send an email from my PC, and wait an hour and get nothing.

Here is where it gets odd. If I launch the main intelliscreen app, then while I am looking around at all the options, my phone will ding/vibrate, and the mails will come in. I can leave the phone there for an hour and nothing and 20 seconds after I launch the app, the mails show up.

And, if I uninstall Intelliscreen, it all works fine.

Anyone have a clue as to what may be causing this to happen?

It didn't show up right away for me either, just try again in an hour or two. It'll load.

If you are really desperate you can SSH in and delete the cache. Lazy people like me wait. lol

Instructions

Ok, a friend who has this app came by today and we were chatting about it. He showed me how to use it properly, how to turn off and on things on the screen and how that changed the default position. He also mentioned some other little things I didn't know.

I realized that the MAIN THING missing from this app was a clear manual! I had gone to the devs site to find information but with no luck, and this thread is great but it's all over the place and over 100pgs long.

Spending some time to have even one or two 'help' images showing what does what would be a huge improvement. A proper little manual describing features would be even better!

One last thing...I'd LOVE to see the option for weather to use the same cities I have set up in my weather.app and of course, a stocks option!

I'm going to wait out my trial but the dev should note that if it weren't for my friend's 2 minute tutorial, I wouldn't have bought. Now I almost assuredly will. And yes I do know all the 1-time messages that pop-up answer a lot of these things, but it's not a great way to display the info, since I can't remember all that information and don't know how to display them again.

cheers! and once again, I love the potential of this app!
