I downloaded and ran. I put in a bad password for my news server and now it gets stuck on "connecting". Only way to exit is a soft reset. I tried uninstalling and re-installing but that just brought me right back to connecting as i guess some info was left on the phone after the 1st install. Do i need to SSH into the phone and manually remove some files?

demented puppy: Google groups is a web archive of usenet groups--it does not have a nntp server, which is what iNewsGroup uses.
nlcmobsta183: Connection crashes should be fixed in 0.6b. Are you using that? It's not in installer, but available on the dtztech repo that's listed on this page and the program's software page.
bschucher: same as above, does the current version do this for you? If it does let me know and I'll look into it immediately.

I'd like to use this app, but it seems to freeze in different parts of the program. I'm running firmware 1.1.2.

It hangs on every screen? Since you're saying it happens on every
screen, I'm assuming you mean it stays there for a while, then
eventually continues. Or does it happen at a different place each time?
Are you using it on edge of wifi? Edge is much slower as you're
probably aware--and transition between most screens requires network
traffic (initial connect, then when you load a group it has to grab a
list of all the articles, when reading a message it has to get that
message, etc). This is expected, and depending on your server and
your connection quality can be a bit slow, unfortunately that's just
how it goes.... Not a whole lot I can do there, but I am looking at
alternative ideas (offline sync, so you can grab all that from a fast
wifi when it's convenient and then later read anywhere in
constant-time) to make it generally more usable in this regard. Would
that be a good idea/solution for you?
If I'm not understanding your issue, or you still have more thoughts,
let me know.. feedback is always appreciated.
Thanks,
~Will

Well 2 minutes is quite ridiculous, even over edge, let alone wifi. If you give me your server name I can take a look at what's going on. Did this problem develop when you upgraded to 1.1.2 or is this your first time using iNewsGroup?

Does anyone know if this app can be set up with usenetserver? I've tried & cannot seem to get it. If that can't work, which newsgroups would be recommended? Thanks...
