This is laughable to me unless you're an international traveller who likes to text on-the-go...

Most of the iPhone plans, if dissected have less of a net cost per text than the $.10 biteSMS plan. I know this is the same on other major carriers as well.

Heck, if I go over my limit of texts on my AT&T plan, I get charged the same $.10 for every message over...

to those of us who aren't American it may be very useful. I know I pay $0.20 per SMS on a major network but have fantastic call rates.

Not cheaper for us in Canada. 2500 texts for $10 (Rogers).

^That's what I thought, too. skb, you are that kid. Just kidding.

Zombie- Yeah, that's kind of what I was getting at with the foreign angle, I just didn't really state it like that. However yeah, you're correct. I could see it being very useful in that scenario.

ROFL my response exactly when I checked my bill online.
It's mainly because I do a lot of multipaged texts and have friends that like to update me constantly about their life.

Dear God...40,000 texts a month? Assuming you poll your email (and that it counted as an incoming text) as well as your standard inoming and outgoing texts, that's a lot...That's 1.3k a day...Or 1 text per minute...all the time...

I think you read your bill wrong. 4,000 sounds more reasonable to me.

At 40,000 in an avg 30 day month, with 6 hours of sleep each day, you are still texting at a rate of 1.2 per minute. Even saying that half of the total that gets texted are received, you're at ~1 every 2 minutes for every waking second of the 18 hour day.

Now at 4,000/month and 18 hour days, you are looking at 7.4 each hour. That is a much more reasonable rate.
