Hi Cybergreg,
Iswitcher is a very nice application...
But now I,m facing a trouble..
I'm running on the 1.0.2,I was running the
Iswitcher 1.56 quite fine.I made a update in it with the Ibrick to the 1.57 and now the Iswitcher is locked. When I try to run it ,what I have is just a screen with a kind of paper and pencil or something like that and it locks the Iphone.
I tried to remove the 1.57 with Ibrick..no sucess.I tried to install the 1.60 on over the 1.57..the same (keep locking)..
I have the Summerboard..I uninstalled it with the Installer App... and tried to remove the Iswitcher..no sucess.
Any help ?? Thank you..
BTW..I can't see the Iswitcher in the InstallerApp...I can see many other stuf but not the Iswitcher...
Thanks again..

Sorry.. that sux...
You can download older versions of iSwitcher from this site:
http://iphone.exploit.org/pxl/
Try 1.56 to see if that will work on your phone.
Well the MMi wiki is HERE.
I used this method which has about 12 less steps but does require iTunes 7.4 and a Mac

Okay just to be clear you should have downloaded version 1.56. If so, you're saying that one also didn't work?
Anyhow, just delete the iSwitcher.app folder from /Applications that will remove the app. Use any method you are comfortable with, Finder, iPHUC, iPhone Browser, whatever.
Edit: I have to ask, are you manually installing the app or using iBrickr?Last edited by CyberGreg; 10-16-2007 at 05:12 PM.

hey greg, i'm still on FW 1.0.2 and haven't updated iswitcher since 1.45.
ok to go directly to 1.60 via installer?
thanks!

10-16-2007, 06:44 PM #26
Yes, please do

If you have any update notices on Installer then you might want to uninstall 1.45, just to remove the notice. If you don't have any notices, install away.
I performed the same install last night on a Friends iPhone and she had 1.45 and installing 1.60 over top worked just fine. Kept all her old themes and added the new ones.
PS Your display order will change because starting with v1.60, I now use com.googlecode.iSwitcher (not cybergreg, as previous versions did). Just use rSBT to reorder.White 3G

ok, thanks!
i only ask because i swear i saw some notice on one of the 'more info' pages in installer about needing to be on 1.56 or something before going to 1.60, so i just wanted to be sure.
i don't have any notices, so off i shall go. thanks!

Hi all,
Some questions here.
How do I get the iSwitcher v1.60 on 1.1.1? I'm using Windows & it looks like the iBrickr does not work with 1.1.1 yet.
Believe it or not, I'm coming from a iSwitcher-iLauncher v0.20 background, but I have clean 1.1.1 install right now with the installer & the required files to allow me to use WinSCP.
Before going to 1.1.1, I made a backup of my /var/root/themes directory and a copy of all my thm.theme.app's. Would I be able to slap these back on w/o any issues, other than having to make the new changes to reflect the new M68AP.plist file?
I believe I also made some hacks at the LoadTheme to load different .plists due to wanting a 5 icon dock on some of my themes & I also needed to push out the .plist to the iSwap app when loading the Home Screen. Has LoadTheme changed & is it still hackable?
Also, will there also be a new iLauncher or is it better to just use the new Springboard?

nice...great app!

Nope that was the sole install during the installer.app session, its back up and running good as new took some time during my very busy day and did some hacking away from my main computer

I'm glad you got it fixed. I can assure you there's nothing in the install that would cause a phone to die. It installs an app in the Applications folder, two BSD utilities in /bin (and you already have them from your BSD world install so it won't over write them) and the theme folders in /var/root/Media/Themes.
Manually install the PackageSources.plist file to /var/root/Library/Installer to add the "rogue" Installer sources. More info
Or download the pxl package and perform the install manually with Winscp. Make sure that LoadTheme, appme, iSwitcher and ditto stay as being set to execute (they are that way in the pxl package and you might just be able to copy them over to your phone, don't know, sorry I don't use any form of scp).
Wow, okay...Believe it or not, I'm coming from a iSwitcher-iLauncher v0.20 background, but I have clean 1.1.1 install right now with the installer & the required files to allow me to use WinSCP.
Yes, there have not been any changes in the .thm.zip file, um since well I started using .thm.zip filesBefore going to 1.1.1, I made a backup of my /var/root/themes directory and a copy of all my thm.theme.app's. Would I be able to slap these back on w/o any issues, other than having to make the new changes to reflect the new M68AP.plist file?
You bet! I love it!, someone that wants their iPhone "their way"I believe I also made some hacks at the LoadTheme to load different .plists due to wanting a 5 icon dock on some of my themes & I also needed to push out the .plist to the iSwap app when loading the Home Screen. Has LoadTheme changed & is it still hackable?

You'll notice a LOT of changes in LoadTheme since the copy you worked with but it you were able to hack the old version I'm sure you can revise this one.
PS I have kept version 0.91 alive and available because it was the last version to install a DisplayOrder.plist file. You might want to download that from the iSwitcher site to look at it's LoadTheme (as of v1.0, iSwitcher no longer installs or replaces the DisplayOrder.plist file)
iLauncher was updated to v0.31, gosh it seems like forever but was a couple of months back, ust cleaned up some code. It works just fine with 1.1.1 and it's completely up to YOU. I personally still use it because there's certain icons I just don't want / need on my display, so I keep them in iLauncher. Direct d/l link for iLauncher (posted Sept 13).
Also, will there also be a new iLauncher or is it better to just use the new Springboard?
iLauncher v0.31 is also available on that "rogue" Installer source so it would really save you some time if you went that route. In addition, you'll get two other awesome sources that have boatloads of SummerBoard and iSwitcher themes.

Have fun!

Hi Greg,
Many thanks for your help...
Yes,I tried to reinstal the 1.56 and doesn't work as well.
Awnswering your question,I instaled using Ibrick. The new version 0.91.
Rigth now I deleted the ISwitcher.app,as you suggested by using the IphoneBrowser. The files doesn't appear in the folder/Apllication anymore, and the Iswitcher icon isn't on the screen,but...
The theme Aquwoo that I was using(and has been changed before by the Iswitcher) at the time I tried the update, remains on the screen.
BTW...after I deleted the Iswitcher.app from the /Application folder,I tried to reinstall the PXL file by using the IBrick..and it says that it uploaded it but doesn't appear on the folder and of course is not working...
Any tip to reinstall the Iswitcher and to put it to work?
Thanks...

If iBrickr works like Breezy, and it should... you have to uninstall any pxl package before it can be installed again. If you want, try to install the new 1.60 pxl package, it has a new ID and iBrickr should allow you to install it.
If not.... the files that Breezy / iBrickr access are stored on your phone in:
/var/root/Media/PXL/DB
You'll see all the "ID"'s of the pxl packages you have installed, remove the com.cybergreg.iSwitcher file and you should be able to get 1.56 reinstalled.White 3G

Well ..seems like my Iphone is now refusing to accept the ISwitcher again..
I delete the files at the /var/root... you mencioned, then I tried to reinstall the 1.56 with IBrick..It says it is uploading, and after that the message that it will soft restart...that never happens.
I restart by myself..and nothing..No files at /Application..and no files at /var/root...
Any other tip to clean something else or another way to reinstall?
PS: With Ibrick I tried to reinstall by using the PXL file..
Thanks

Yes, install off of Installer app by loading the "rogue" sources file. What other pxl packages have you installed and can you still install any other pxl package. I really can't see this as a problem with the package esp since the 1.56, literally thousands of people downloaded and installed it. The info for the rogue source is HERE

Greg,
Just to say that with the rogue files now i can see Iswitcher under Installer.app and the 1.60 has been instaled and is not locking the Iphone anymore.
The point now is ...I can't change the themes...When I tap the new theme it shows the over screem Please wait....and soon.
And remains there..Do not locks the phone and do not change the theme.
Any clue?? Is it possible that's some trouble of the 1.60 on the FW 1.0.2?
Should i try to turn back to 1.57(or 1.56 ) ?
Thanks....

OK. I'm a bit confused...
since iBrickr doesn't seem to see my iphone for some reason, how else may I install iSwitcher?
Could the developer please include a readme file with locations where the included files go on the iphone via say, SSH? I don't see a readme in the ZIP.
Thanks much.

Maybe the developer doesn't want to support any other install methods....

There are two methods to install:
1. Breezy / iBrickr (Breezy works with 1.1.1, I thought some were able to use iBrickr w/1.1.1 too, don't use Windows)
2. Installer app (with the already mentioned "rogue" sources)
If you want the install process, please review the included PxlPkg.plist file, it lists the installation. (see below):
Code:<key>RDPxlPackageFiles</key> <array> <dict> <key>destination</key> <string>/Applications</string> <key>overwrite</key> <true/> <key>source</key> <string>apps</string> </dict> <dict> <key>destination</key> <string>/var/root/Media/Themes</string> <key>overwrite</key> <true/> <key>source</key> <string>Themes</string> </dict> <dict> <key>destination</key> <string>/bin</string> <key>overwrite</key> <false/> <key>permanent</key> <true/> <key>source</key> <string>bin</string> </dict> <dict> <key>destination</key> <string>/var/root/Library/SummerBoard/Themes</string> <key>overwrite</key> <true/> <key>permanent</key> <false/> <key>source</key> <string>Library</string> </dict> </array>

Thank you Sir.
edit:
Relatively painless to install with the "rogue" sources.
Again, thank you.Last edited by Digital Oxygen; 10-17-2007 at 11:36 PM.
