Customize 2.0 thoughts and discussion

so now that alot of people are getting the new customize i thought we should also discuss it. Maybe you are encountering problems and someone here can fix it!!! (Like me) or just talk about it.

Here's the problem i'm encontering (i'm looking on the spicy forums for help right now with no success): I have an ipod touch running 1.1.4. Whenever i launch the new customize it displays the message: TITLE: "Server Unavailable", contents: "Customize was unable to access the theme server. Either the server was unavailable or you have not yet reistered your iPhone"

Any solutions (or links to solutions)?

Solution - you need an active wi-fi (or edge if iphone) for the program to be functional. Additionally if you have wi-fi you need to have the serial number registered on your spicychicken profile for it to validate.

serial number eh...i did not fill that in. I will investigate this. (Where would i find the serial number?)

so far I have had no problems.... i really like all the functionality, and im finding that one of my fav features is the ability to have the background of the springboard different from my wallpaper(though so far as I can see it has to be the theme's wallpaper)... i cant wait for the possibility of a 5 icon dock..... and to think i was about to fire off 40 bucks just for that feature....

I feel really dumb. That was so obvious.

I think you can have different wallpapers. Can't you change them with that second button (I forgot the name of it)

I am not using 2.0 yet, but why is this necessary ?

It is necessary to limit the number of testers that can access the SpicyChicken server so it does not get overloaded as he doesn't have too much bandwidth at the moment and is looking for a sponsor.

Just a helpful hint: Why bother with apps to get your Serial #? It's stamped on the back.

You probably just have too many apps on your phone.
SSH into your phone and delete a few.
You can have more than 79 apps on 1.1.3/4

i have no where near 79 apps, thespicychicken forms are reporting this as a major glitch with no know fix, so im just about to restore again i will hold off on this app until that gets fixed.

well one thing you need to remember is this is alpha testing stage.... try and report everything you can over there on the spicy forum so this issue gets fixed...

too may spinning balls for my tastes... i just went back to the old one in my sig while I till could before the inevitable happened.
