Default AppBackup not working on 4.3.1

Hey all I just JB'd on 4.3.1 on 3Gs. I just tried to open AppBackup and it crashes back to the Springboard after a second or two. Is anyone else also having this problem? I deleted the log file with the backup times just in case it was that reoccuring old issue and it was no good.

I can't lose my Angry Birds progress!

I hate 2 break it 2 u guys but it doesn't work with the ASLR (Address Space Layout Randomization) of the 4.3/4.3.1 firmware. MobileSubstrate had the same problem but saurik fixed it and Scott Zeid (Creator of AppBackUp says he is trying 2 fix the problem) For More info visit the AppBackUp site AppBackup | Scott Zeid

I'd figure i could manually import the backups... but it just fucks up everything, nothing can be saved after that

Default I successfully recovered my backups

After copying the .tar.gz from the ~/Library/Preferences/AppBackup/tarballs folder to the base level of the application folder, I ran 'tar zxvfp backup.tar.gz' where backup.tar.gz was the backup file, and it worked like a charm. I haven't tried using just zxvf, but if its not working then I assume there's additional permission information maintained by the p option that managed to get things working.

    Cheers

If you place the tarball for each app in the base level of the apps var/mobile/applications folder, then navigate to said folder in ifile and use 'unarchiver' on the tarball by tapping it - that will restore your apps data

or what prurigro suggested with 'tar zxvfp backup.tar.gz' . I just extracted the .gz file with my macs extractor; found the GUID associated with ACEBUDGET (the app im tryn to restor) copy pasted the extracted (DOcuments folder and Library folder) in the directory for ACE BUDGET over writing what was in it. I opened it.. the dat is there but when i click on lets say adding a new entry the app crashes. Can you please help???

Also: Alias file under LIBRARY/PREFERENCES called "com.apple.PeoplePicker.plist" that never gets copied and gives errors. Any ideas? what is that

That's because the permissions are getting messed up. If you put the .tar.gz file in the base level of the applications folder, alongside library and documents, then extract it - it overwrites the old folders whilst keeping the old folders permissions.

I tried unzipping the .gz folders and replacing the documents and library folders from the extracted folder to the app but it wouldnt work.

This worked for me perfectly, though the process is a bit slow...

LOL, that's what i tried too, if you do that, you'd have the save, but any progress after can't be saved

    DAMN IT!
I just backed up everything with Appbackup then upgraded to 4.3.2
Now I cant restore anything as AppBackup doesnt work... DAMN IT!
I was waiting for everything to be working and it all looks like it except for the damn backup program....
I guess I now have to downgrade back to 4.2.1, restore everything then wait for an update to AppBackup so I can finally update, OR use another app to backup all my apps.
I've only been updating the damn iPad for the last 6 hours and I have to start all over again. This really sucks.

Just a note to everyone. IF YOU ARE ON 4.3.2

(yea i searched 4.3.2 and this thread popped up)

You need to copy those tarballs INSIDE of the respective folders.

Do not just drop it at /var/mobile/Applications/ and hit "unarchive."

That just creates folders inside that location and /not/ inside the respective app.

Yes it will take time to individually move each tar to each respective folder but that is what is working for me.

Thanks though guys, if it werent for this thread, i would have been fretting like the guy on the prev. page

The same here.. i can us the backup if i copy the files inside "documents" to (specific appfolder) /documents. Then i can use backuped apps without any problems. But this way is too inconvenient.
