Thread: Is there a list of must have Cydia Apps for 4.1?

Default Is there a list of must have Cydia Apps for 4.1?
Long time lurker, JB'ed dozens of times, but finally fed up with my 3G lagging on 4.01, I decided to install/JB 4.1 even with the risk of losing my unlock (which I really don't need right now).

For the record, I tried the TinyUmbrella method to prevent the boot ROM from updating, but something went wrong and it updated it to 15.14.02 anyways and unfortunately I have 6.4 Bootloader, so I am stuck.

That said, this is NOT what is post is about, I knew the risk, and I am fine with the result.

I was wondering if there was an updated post on what "Must have" Cydia apps are useful in 4.1.

Of course SBSttings is the main one, but I am looking for some I might not have heard from or are new to this IOS version.

Obviously I have Googled for this info, but most lists it found are old, and for 3.x

    Comments?

    What are your faves?

I'd prefer not to go too crazy with what I install on the phone. Too much jailbroken stuff can look "sloppy" (and I'm a fan of the clean and elegant Apple interfaces).

First, to improve what I see the most (Springboard):

    * Five Icon Dock (this should have been the default of the OS)
    * Five Icon Switcher (makes it match up with the Dock)
    * NoSpot (I never use Spotlight, and keep it turned off anyway)
    * AT&T Carrier Logo (there are two listed on Cydia. I use the one that does NOT have the drill icon).

Then to give myself a friendly/informative lock screen:

    * WinterBoard
    * Typophone 4 (just to change the "slide to unlock" slider)
    * Lockscreen Clock Hide (hide the clock on the Lock Screen)
    * Icon Shadow (add drop shadows after WinterBoard breaks them)
    * Slanted Lock (colorful, slanted Lock screen with weather)

Then for quick access to stuff:

    * SBSettings
    * Serious SBSettings Theme
    * SBSettings VPN Toggle (quick connect for my work VPN)
    * SBSetting Tethering Toggle (to toggle native tethering)
    * Autocorrection SBSettings (turns auto correct off/on)

    Change / add functionality:

    * Switcher Mod (can work like "Remove Recents", but does quite a bit more)
    * OpenSSH (adds shell access. remember to change the root & mobile password!)

    Then the premium apps:

    * MyWi 4.0, $20 (3rd-party USB Tethering + WiFi hotspot)
    * TetherMe, $2 (enables native tethering, Bluetooth and USB)
    * Snappy, $2 (MUCH faster camera than native, can use Volume button to take pictures, etc)
    * iBlacklist, $12 - Call Block! (has a trial). Seems to work great so far. I'm pretty tired of having "Blocked" numbers call me, or people calling me trying to collect on bills for someone else that use to have my number. (AT&T charges $5 a MONTH for similar service).
    * BiteSMS, $9 (functional text messaging from anywhere, recently updated to support 4.1)

I don't use Winterboard nor SBSettings 'coz I can manually modify many of tweaks WB allows via theme.
Also never feel the need for SBSettings...

    3radicateRD
    Activator
    afc2add
    Backgrounder
    biteSMS
    Covert
    CyDelete
    Cyntact
    Daemon Tool
    HTC Plugin for LockInfo (Native)
    iAdKiller
    IncarcepApp
    LockInfo
    MobileTerminal - coz I don't use OpenSSH
Notifier - Notified Pro crashes Mail app
    Poof
    PrivaCy
    Remove Recents
    SafariDNS
    SwitcherMod
    TetherMe + TetherMe APN Editing

I try to keep the installed files at minimum if I can help.

I do not want intrusion into my personal life by programs such as flurry, medialets, mobclix or pinch media so I added PrivaCY to my iPhone, but I do not know if I want to "send anonymous usage statistics" to the above programs or not. Should the toggle switches be set to "on" or to "off"? Can anyone tell me what setting I should use.

Since no one has mentioned them yet, and they are two of my favorites:

Infinidock - lets you add as many icons as you want to the dock
Intelliscreen - presents a dashboard of info on the lock screen, and also lets you setup repeating alerts

    Sick post guys...

I'm new to the iPhone world, finally converted from the blackberry. Was wondering, is there an app that will allow me to toggle bt, wifi, or 3G on and off quickly without having to go into settings.

    I'm currently running 4.1

I tried swapbt but no luck.

    Thanks

The app you are requesting is one of the most useful and popular apps. It's also free!!!

Check in Cydia for SBsettings. You will soon find out why it's so popular.

All the toggles you asked for are included with it but with a ton more available.

Also, welcome to the (i) world!!!

    Jon!!!

Such an amazing app. Wow. Thanks.

Hot another question...is there an app that will automatically shut down programs so I don't have to keep going to my activty list and closing them?

    Thanks again.

No problem, you will find out how awesome this site is and the help is unbelievable.
I believe there are a few variations of that. One app you can get is called SwitcherPlus.

It gives you the option to add more apps to the task switcher and even add apps to the lock screen with a simple finger gesture. In it comes a tweak that allows you to kill (close) all the apps in your task switcher at once. Pretty useful to say the least.

Think that may be what you're looking for.

Funny you asked that. On cydia in the description it says all 4 are set to default as not accepting but in the app it says (send anonymous) info these ....... But the way it looks, if you turn them ON, it seems like you would SEND info you don't want them to know.
