Backgrounder real multitasking?

iPhone 4 4.0, jailbreakme.com - I'm no novice at this but I'm struggling with Backgrounder. I use several talk radio apps that worked perfectly with my 3GS (jailbroken). But I can't get any of the talk radio apps to work in the background. As soon as I send it to background they stop working. Just like if I had closed the apps.

Is anyone having these issues and can anyone help.

Only things I changed are:
Global
backgrounder ticked
fall back to native off
enable at launch off
stay enabled on
badge on
minimise on toggle on
which lets me background anything like on 3gs by holding down the home button to toggle backgrounding on or off..or a quick double press to see whats running..
and have installed remove recents from cydia

works fine with all apps
