03-29-2010, 11:04 AM #1[PRE RELEASE] find the name of the caller
Work for iOS <5.0
How it works
A call is coming. A mobilesubstrate hook will search for the name of the caller, after a short time the name of the caller will be shown in the CallAlertWindow. (Works in Sweden)
After the call you get a question if you want to save the contact to your adressbook. If you choose yes the hook starts the application that will search for the persons vcard(in the some countries where no vcard can be found it will just parse htmlinformation). Then you have the choose to add the contact or save it to an existing contact.
The smsnumberlookup doesn't work when iRealSMS or similar applications is used. The phonecall lookup does work with iREALSMS.

Awesome, i was just thinking of an app like this the other day (it's available on Symbian etc..).
I would like to try. I'm from Norway. BTW: I have better experience with 1881.no than tlf.no, you might want to consider changing that, or add as a backup if it's not found - 1881.no is owned by the only landline owner, and by far largest cell phone provider, so I'm pretty sure they have the best database.

I would be very interested in testing this app! I have this issue quite frequently and usually just let it go to voicemail if I do not know the caller. I live in the United States

Works great! I have expeienced a safe mode or two upon reviving a call. But it seems to be fixed with the update. To
bad it won't work for cell phone. I don't know anyone that has a land line anymore. Haha

If someone gets a problem with the program (safemode). I would be very thankful if you send me a syslog. It can be done in Rock or with the application LogMailer

Working great so far! I really like the ability to add to contacts

You know what would be a GREAT companion service to this? A reverse database that, this tool can submit to.
For instance, I got a call from Comcast, and it came up as "No Match". I don't want this in my Contact list, but I would love to see it come up. And anonymous submission would allow other users to benefit from the calls people get.
