iRealSMS 3.0 Preview

I hardly ever post here anymore but I wanted to share this with you guys.

UPDATE: BETA IS LIVE FOR IREALSMS 2.0 CUSTOMERS ONLY!
Add the repo: "www.irealsms.com/beta_repo"
uninstall your current version and then install the beta
@All iRealSMS 2.0 users: BE SURE TO INSTALL THE 3.0 BETA TO AUTOMATICALLY UPGRADE YOUR LICENSE. This will guarantee you a free upgrade to iRealSMS 3.0 when it is released.

This is a preview for iRealSMS 3.0
We hope you like it... this redesign took MONTHS to complete and many
many man hours for the two of us... especially Chris(the developer).
There were many trials when doing this as we suffered from frustrating
nights where we thought things were not possible, many safe mode crashes
and firmware updates, that complicated the update process. But in the
end we have the product that we envisioned!

The app itself is a completely new application re-written from scratch..
this was not a simple facelift to the current iRealSMS 2.0 version. We
have brought our user interface to the next level and designed it to
mimic that of the Apple Messages application but is open to many more
functions. This UI update is long overdue and is FULLY MMS SUPPORTED!
(for those who have MMS available already in their messages app) In the
main app, and in the QuickReply/QuickSend !!

FYI: iRealQuickSMS will get an update, but not till the iRealSMS 3.0 is
complete.. please note that iRealQuickSMS will primarily be bug fixes as
many things will be exclusive to the main app iRealSMS 3.0.

I'll answer your questions, but I'll for the most part just let the
screen shots speak for themselves.

Now we will look at our QuickReply(yes that is the contact pic):

And here is our QuickSend:
QuickSend now uses the same search parameters as the messages app... you have TOTAL access to your contacts list, both phone numbers and email addresses... so if you want to send a QuickSend to an email address... DO IT !! This has all kinds of benifeits! If someone it texting you from their computer via their email, then you can hold an online conversation from your quickreply!

NOTE: both QR & QS has the ability to insert pictures from your picture
albums/rolls from anywhere in the operating system but not the ability
to launch the camera app and take new pictures.

I hope this puts a little bit of excitement back into my user base, because I know it feels like we have have been doing nothing the past 4 months... but we have been working like crazy for you guys.

I only own iRealQuickSMS but i can see me self buying the full version when this comes out. Great work!!

It is LIVE for public testing. Only available to iRealSMS 2.0 customers as a free upgrade!
Just add
www.irealsms.com/beta_repo
to your cydia sources... uninstall your iReal package then install this beta.
Help us beta test if you like!

Just purchased 2.0 to upgrade to 3.0 beta!!! Love it! QuickReply looks amazing!

Thanks! It took us a long time to update this app... We seem to have already known of all the reported bugs, which is good... we will fix all of them or a majority of them when we release our next beta... FYI, the app seems to at this point have a conflict with the following apps iBlackList, Universal Search & Intelliscreen... we will contact the devs of each application and see if we can figure out what steps we can take to make ours 100% compatible.

Luckily i do not use those apps! I have noticed on bug where both the stock preview sms and iRealSMS alert show up on lock screen. But it really dose not mess with the functionality at all. I would say its seems very very stable. By far the best sms abb out for the iPhone!!

That does require some tweaking on our part...
To get rid of that, go into iReal > Settings > Advanced > QuickReply > Turn OFF Autohide after Dim.

That will fix the double preview issue.

I get a 404 Not Found when trying to add the repo. I will try again later.

I sometimes hate that forums underline links...lol. the reason you cant add it is probably because you dont see the underscore _ between beta and repo...
so to clarify:
"www.irealsms.com/beta_repo"

The repo must have been down earlier, but it is working fine now. After a few attempts it finally went through

Quicksend works great, but when I launch 3.0 all I get is a white screen with nothing on it.

3.0.1 3GS

Edit again: Rebooted the phone and now nothing works. When I launch 3.0 it shows a white screen for 5 seconds and then crashes back to the springboard.

hmm... wonder if that is an issue with 3.0.1
Im on 3.1.2 right now.
I'll investigate and see if anyone else is using iReal on 3.0.1

btw... do you have any other apps that my be conflicting?
try going into SBSettings and disabling all dylibs except for iReal.

If that still dont work.. you can try the good old uninstall.
reboot
reinstall.

I am upgrading to 3.1.2 this evening, but I had to wait until the Missing Carrier Logo was solved due to roaming charges in areas that I work.

I don't have any conflicting apps. I have been using iReal since its inception.

This is what I did to get it to work:

I added the repo.
Uninstalled 2.0.9x
Rebooted.
Installed 3.0
It would not work(app booted to a white screen only).
I looked around and noticed I didn't delete iReal from Categories before uninstalling it. I don't know if that was the problem, but after removing the icon from Categories my phone took forever to reboot and went into safemode immediately after startup.
So I uninstalled 3.0 and rebooted and then reinstalled it.

The phone boots normally now and iReal is working.

The only thing I can see that is buggy is the scrolling in Basic and UI and Advanced. It is choppy. Everything else looks great!

If you have Categories installed be sure to remove iRealSMS from it before uninstalling a previous version.

I have a question about quickreply: Does the default SMS popup have to be active in order for you to be able to use the quickreply bubble option?

The reason I ask is because I like my privacy so I use popupblocker for SMS popups, but I'd like a program like quickreply in order to read and answer messages quickly instead of having to slide the phone open and open the default SMS app.

Is there a way for the quickreply window to be activated with say, a double tap of the home button?

I use the volume up button for my quickreply. When you toggle the volume your ringer volume popup doubles as the QuickReply popup. Touch the volume popup and your QuickReply will open.

I bought iRealSMS when I had my 3G. I have since sold the 3G, do I need to buy iRealSMS again for my 3GS and if not, how do I get my license back?

They will transfer your license to your 3GS. All you have to do is email them your serial number of the new phone and your paypal email address so they can verify the purchase.

Ok so I got it and it's great. For some reason I'm getting double notifications from the app though. Not one from the default app and one from ireal... but TWO from ireal pop up in duplicate for every message.
