So, my 1G iPod touch (running 3.0 firmware) is stuck with the "no wifi" error and wifi is greyed out. So, I want to give SWifi a shot to see if I can recover but I'm stuck on a couple of things. I used redSn0w to jailbreak the ipod and that worked no problem. I've been trying iLiberty to install vt100, swifi, bsd, and bootneuter but I haven't had any luck. I've tried two versions of iLiberty, the first one said "unable to create payload folder" and the newer version says "error communicating with device". I've tried with iTunes running first, then without iTunes running and I've had no luck.
So... I've used iPhoneBrowser to at least move BootNeuter, vt100, and swifi onto my ipod. Bootneuter and vt100 show up on the springboard, but close immediatel after launching so they're not yet usable. I'm assuming this has to do with a lack of execute permissions on the files. So, with no WIFI, is there a proper way to install vt100 so I can move forward with the rest of the steps? vt100 is on the device, any way to give it proper execute permissions? Thanks!
There are several reasons these things aren't working for you. iLiberty was only designed for 2.x firmware. vt100 was also only for 1.x and 2.x firmware. BSD subsystem was for 1.x firmware, and bootneuter is only for the iPhone 2g.
But if you want a terminal like vt100, install Mobile Terminal from Cydia, its essentially the same thing.
Well, that would explain a lot. Thanks for the reply. I'm going to rollback my Touch to 2.2.1 and give this all a shot again. Cydia is a no go for me, no Wifi right now. Thanks!
Hmm, no luck. Rolled back to 2.2.1 but iLiberty still gives the "error communicating with device" error. I tried using iPhoneBrowser again to move vt100 to the Applications directory on the touch (which worked) but it does not show up on the springboard.
Basically, I'm back to square one. Does anyone know a way that i can install vt100, or something similar without using Cydia since I have no wifi? Any tool other than iLiberty? Thanks!
