Uninstall the .58-3 version of FCSB (if you have it installed)

SSH the .57-1 deb file to...
    /private/var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall/

If you dont have the AutoInstall folder in the "/private/var/root/Media/Cydia/" folder... create it 1st.

    Hard reboot... done.

Keep in mind guys, .57-1 will bring back your 5 columns, but Cydia, Rock, etc. will start nagging you update with the icon badge... you'll have to live with it until this dev releases a new version. This update was a $hitty thing to do to everyone... a simple warning disclaimer would have sufficed.

Thank you very much, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work! I didn't have the Cydia folder too, so i created it as for the AutoInstall one. But nothing happened after i reboot it.
    Any idea?

This is very odd sir, if you have Cydia installed, it usually creates the Cydia sub folder, but its an empty folder... you should only have to create the AutoInstall folder into it.

Try to copy & paste this path into your SSH address bar and see what happens... if it doesnt give you a proper directory listing or a "folder doesn't exist" type error... recheck your path and spelling... case sensitive!

    /private/var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall

You may also try doing a thread search for the alternate method using Terminal.

Here is some instructions using MobileTerminal:
    1. Download the file

    2. Via SSH, transfer it to “private/var/mobile”

    3. Launch MobileTerminal application and type:
    su root
    alpine
    dpkg -i net.r-ch.fcsb_0.57-1_iphoneos-arm.deb

I'm glad you got it figured out... i'd be all sorts of pissed without my FCSB! I'm one of those still holding with 3.0, so obviously this stupid lockout update didn't affect me.
But I ALWAYS read the change log before I update ANYTHING!!

I never used to when all I had was a Touch, but with my 3G[S] I read it every time now what with all the incompatibilities with 3.x out there, and apple's douchebag stance on not letting you restore the *true* original firmware that came installed on the phone if it was 3.0 or 3.0.1

Default Issue fixed - ready on Cydia

Good news - just got this email from FCSB dev:
    "Hey.

If you're getting this email, it's because you've contacted me about
an FCSB issue in the last 36 or so hours. There were issues with an
upgrade released two nights ago where 3.1.x users could not keep using
    FCSB.

I would like to say that as of a few minutes ago, I have shipped
another update, 0.59, which works on firmwares 3.1 and above, and
fixes bugs related to the uninstall process and iTunes 9's
    Applications tab.

The added bonus to this version is that icons are restored to their
positions prior to FCSB being enabled whenever FCSB isn't active,
meaning you can go in and out of safe mode without having to
reorganize all your icons, and you can store both a 4x4 and a 5x4
    arrangement at a time.

If you launch Cydia right now and you have not uninstalled FCSB, you
will still see an update. Make sure that the version you see is 0.59,
as it is the version that works on 3.1.x firmwares. (You may have to
refresh your sources. Please don't use Icy or RockApp because they're
built wrong and have issues with certain packages.)

This update should resolve most, if not all of your issues. I
apologize for last night's update; everyone screws up eventually, this
is my screwup. Sorry for the trouble.

If you run into any issues with the update, feel free to let me know
and I'll see what I can do about it.

    Thanks.

Note: I did this as a mass mailing by selecting all emails sent
regarding FCSB in the last few days; you might get this message twice
depending on if you replied back to an answer or not. Sorry if this is
the case, this is just the most efficient way to let everyone know
they can finally update with the volume of email I have gotten."

Thanks for posting that. I was coming back to this thread to mention that the 0.59 update is available, and it works on 3.1.2 Guess I am just too slow

I updated it, I still have 5 columns on my springboard, and I no longer have the little badge on my Cydia icon.

I have the newest release .59, but my apps don't seem to save when out of the app...

I am leaving FCSB and sorting my apps within iTunes app mgmt... then reinstalling FCSB hoping that the app locations will hold... they do not... any advice?

My Springboard still crashed when using FCSB....
