I have a jail broken iphone 2G with OS 3.0.
I downloaded a few applications from the appstore but when ever i ran them on my iphone...they closed after a second or so.
I thought maybe its a problem with itunes 9.
So i downloaded appsync 3.0 and tried installing cracked IPA's through itunes but the same problem occurred.
I gave one more shot by downloading **********.
Downloaded a cracked app from ********** and installed it.
Same thing happened.

NOW...the interesting and the slightly confusing thing is....all apps downloaded from Cydia work absolutely fine(********** and appsync).

The iphone i have is what i recently purchased second hand. It had many appications installed. When ever i hold an icon on the screen (to organise the icons)...all previously installed apps DO NOT show the cross (X) sign to delete..but those installed later(NOT THE ONES INSTALLED FROM CYDIA) do..and they are the ones not working...

I cant even restore my iphone because if i try that..it asks me to upgrade to OS 3.1...which i dont want to as of now.

Help me guys...i have provided all the info possible.

2G? Those aren't required to restore to 3.1
You can go into DFU mode and shift+click restore and browse to 3.0.1

Let me google that for you

Then just hold down shift (or option if you're on OS X) while you click on restore in iTunes. Then a browser window thingy will pop up and just browse to your 3.0 or 3.0.1 ipsw file.

Ok...but isnt there a way to go about it without restoring. Because i dont want to jail break it myself. Is jail breaking very risky ?

jailbreaking is very easy & there's lots of really good apps.
Try deleting and re-downloading an app and see if that'll help it.

Did that many times...didnt help...i guess i'll have to restore it...jailbreak...unlock...and carry on with my app installation.

What if i do all this and the same problem occurs ??

As long as you set up as new, I am 90% sure you won't get that problem again.
