Issue with Mobile signal

Hi,

I am having iphone 2G, OS 3.0, unlock and jailbreaked phone with Bharathi Airtel (india) connection. Strangly i am facing issue with signal connection. when i am in a call, suddenly the signal strenght is cut off fully (the signal bar does not show anything), and it comes up in few seconds. because of this, the call gets cut off and i have to call again. this has happened for me in OS 1.1.4, but did not happen in 2.2.1. now i am facing the same issue in 3.0. is it a problem with my handset or the service provider ? whether anyone has faced this problem ? any suggestion for fixing it ?
