Ok so Im finally upgrading from 2.2 to 3.0....just wondering what version of itunes I should use and whether I need to do something diff. than what I did with

    Use itunes 8.2
    And restore to 3.0 and set up as a new phone instead of upgrading.
    I always feel sorry for the guy in the iPhone commercials. He always gets a call right in the middle of trying to do something

    I wont lose my contacts if i set up as new though right? as long as I still sync it with the same program (windows address book or something)

    As long as you're syncing with iTunes they should still be there.
    Also, don't install Icy as well, stick with Cydia.

    will my photos from 2.2 be gone if i dont restore from backup?

    yes but you go into iphoto and sync it with your iphone and they should all be saved on iphoto. Another thing is you will lose all your text messages, to some thats a big deal too

    When you plug it in it'll show up as a USB drive thingy and then just choose to "Open Folder to see Files" (or something like that..) and copy all the picture onto your computer.

    @ianbroste his info says he's running XP. XP (or any windows for that matter) doesn't have iphoto
