I actually just tried Winterboard and it appears to be working from the Cydia repo. Said something about the 3Gs support on there too WOOT...I borrowed p0sixninja's iComplete, may change it soon though to one of my oldies. Also feels like the new mobile substrate has cydia FLYING...its super fast

VoiceOver
For blind users like myself, the iPhone represents the first mainstreamed phone that can be purchased and used right out of the box without needing to install specialized screen access software. I'm absolutely loving my iPhone for just that reason and have only one major issue, that being A T&T.
I'm definitely an iPhone newbie, but one thing I know for sure is that I definitely want to unlock my device for eventual use with T-Mobile. I've been googling and it appears the only way to do this is to first jailbreak. My big concern, however, is that jailbreaking might break VoiceOver functionality in which case I'll have nothing more than a nice doorstop. I'm wondering if someone could possibly test VoiceOver to verify that it still works after jailbreak? I'd be willing to test, but only if there's a way to unjailbreak in the event things go wrong -- not sure if this is possible.
I'd definitely appreciate any help/thoughts/advice.

Hello n0idea.
I think jailbreak will not affect VoiceOver.
It has nothing to do with it.
You can try it and if it stops working, you can just restore your iPhone using a not-modified firmware file, and boom, jailbreak is gone.
Your iPhone will be exactly like when you first bought it!

That's very good to hear, I'm still not exactly sure what happens during the process, so it's good to hear VoiceOver won't be broken.

Are the regular firmware files available somewhere? Will the "restore" option in iTunes force the stock firmware to be reloaded? I really wish there were an easier way to just unlock the darned thing, but of course that'd defeat the purpose of locking it in the first place.

Hello again

Yes, those files are available.
Here's the link for firmware 3.0 not-modified for iPhone 3GS
You can load it via iTunes by pushing the option key + restore on MAC OS X or shift + restore on Windows, but I think that simply pushing restore will restore the latest not-modified firmware as well.

Thanks again, I'll grab the official firmware just in case. It's got me wondering now though if maybe an official unlocked firmware exists somewhere (there's got to be a way to just unlock), I realize that's off topic here, however, so will go back to Google. Thanks again for all your help.
