I had the same problem as you!
The switch does not really work all the time. So I gave up and reinstalled Net Services. This one faithfully switches on and off the safari plugin without any hitches whatsoever

The program switch enables one to change from streaming and loading in safari to downloading into downloads directory, It does this by loading up a plugin applet when a download stream is detected. This plugin applet has a fancy download button which allows content to be downloaded into the "download" directory.
I am finding the Boss safari plugin to not be working correctly at the moment on my 1.1.2 jailbroken iphone.
Install "Net Services" instead. It does similar functions as Boss Util, but has alot more. You can choose what you want visible in the config menu. The SAfari plugin here works flawlessless, changing between streaming and downloading to download directory.

hmm, sorry can't help you, my net services is working just great. It has never failed, even after installing and uninstalling boss prefs plugin.
hmm, how are you finding 1.1.4?
I am still using 1.1.2, as I find it does everything I need. 1.1.3 seemed to have more bugs than benefits, eg low cell phone reception issue. But I hear it has been resolved in 1.1.4.

Tested working on 1.1.4

1.1.3 or 1.1.4 is not an issue here. You have to setup permissions and ownership properly.
Enter these 3 lines in iPhone's Terminal, or OS X Teminal (after you successfully SSH-ed to your iPhone) or WinSCP, whatever you use.
Code:# cd / # chmod /Applications/NetServices.app/Netservices # chown -R root:wheel /Applications/NetServices.app/NetServices
