i always use sbsettings. It has a option when you hit the power button within the app to put it into safemodeSent from my iPad

I no sbsettings does it but as i previously have stated i do not wish to use it.

haha i want the safe mode command command to run Brothers in Arms. (yes i own it legit) It runs better in safe mode but i don't want my phone always in safe mode because i have winterboard i can't live without

I have had the same problem, but I found if you just wait at the black screen long enough it will work. It just does not display the load screen that you usualy would see. Let me know if this works for youSent from my iPad

All you have to do is use mobileterminal/ssh via WinSCP and type in this command: touch /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/com.saurik.mobilesubstrate.dat
Respring your device and it will launch it into safe mode
