PDANet + Insomnia: WiFi still gets dropped

iPhone 3G, Firmware 2.2 (5G77). Modem FW 02.28.00 (latest baseband)
Insomnia 2.0, PDANet 1.41 (trial)

Using PDANet to tether my laptop. After about 10 to 15 minutes of the phone being in standby (screen off) the WiFi connection between the laptop and phone consistently gets dropped. If I happen to turn on the phone before then it seems to keep the connection alive.

So my first thought was maybe Insomnia isn't keeping (something) alive. But then I thought maybe PDANet is doing something funky, so I thought I'd check here first to see if anyone else has seen the same behavior.

Anyone??

Hmm.. thanks jreid for the update. It seems awfully odd that it would be fixed by waking the phone periodically if it is something WinXP is doing...

Can anyone else confirm this? Is there a wireless network manager replacement that might work better?

Thanks again.

While using PDAnet I toggled al the settings so the screen didn't dim or the phone didn't go into standby/lockscreen.
After that I didn't have any more disconnects. the laptop is running vista.

So that would, in fact, suggest that the iPhone is going into 'standby' when Insomnia should be preventing it from doing so. The whole point of Insomnia is so you don't have to do that

I'll file a bug with Insomnia and maybe the dev can look into it.

Glad to hear I'm not crazy. I had opened up a bug on the Insomnia page here:
Issue 16 - iphone-insomnia - Google Code
And it looks like someone else opened a duplicate ticket here as well:
Issue 17 - iphone-insomnia - Google Code

For anyone who's interested in following this. Pls "star" it if you're interested in having it fixed.
