Thread: Google Maps app now follows your movement.

Default Google Maps app now follows your movement.
Something I just noticed that I know it didn't do before. When you have maps open and you are moving the blue dot will stay in the center of the screen while the map moves. Back before 2.2 the blue location dot would move off the screen while the map stayed still. It's great when you have driving directions up and you want to see when you are coming up to a turn. That much closer to turn by turn directions.

It's always been that way on the iPhone 3G... all you have to do to activate that feature is hit the locate me button in the bottom corner and it follows you. If you click somewhere else on the map it de-activates.

It never did that for me before 2.2 I've had my 3G since release day. I know for a fact because whenever using it in the car I always set a route and then make sure locate is on so that I know when to turn.

It has always followed me on my 3G. But as Poseidon said you need to press the "Locate" button. Not sure why it never worked for you before.

Hmmm...that's weird. Maybe I was inadvertently moving the map turning off the locate function. I don't know but it's never worked for me up until I noticed it this weekend.

I think what he is saying is that when you use the rout feature it goes to the next step when you get there instead of you getting there then you have to hit next. Am i correct, I have not tested it so im not sure.
