Guitar Hero 3 Issue

Im sorry if this is a repost, i did some digging and couldnt find the answer to my question and didnt think it would get answered if i put it in that 4 page GH thread.

Anyway, i followed all the instructions exactly how it said and it works great except during gameplay when i tap the end sometimes the old tap tap background comes back in a glitchy sort of way. It covers up only the line in which i tapped the end on (unless ive hit multiple strings then they all light up with the old tap tap background). Anyone know why this could be happening?

This is exactly what happens to me.
