How to install .app files?
How do you install a .app file?
I downloaded an app in a rar file, but it unpacked to a folder with "iNewsgroup.app" for it's name.
I copied & pasted a folder like this into the phone's app folder once in the past, and it showed up.
But I also did that a couple of other times with other similar apps...
and it didn't.
I want to install this new app but it doesn't show up in springboard after just a copy & paste.
Is there some "proper" way to install such files?
Thanks!

No I'm not...
I'm talking about a legit app that I downloaded from Google groups by a developer.
Here's the link:
inewsgroup - Google Code
Unfortunately there's no apparent way to contact him about it.
Don't be so quick to judge there Skippy...

It should have a .ipa extension, if that were the case you just double click it and its auto imported into itunes.

nope... check the link above and download it for yourself...
it's a folder with a .app extension.
But it doesn't matter... I found out how to do this from another forum, and it doesn't work anyway. It just crashes after opening.
But thanks for trying to help anyway!

That looks like a 1.1.x app, wouldn't work on 2.x.
