New idea for MMS

Ok so there is an email address that you can just type the number and it emails it to the person regardless of carrier. Why not create an app that you upload the pic and pic your contact and the it enters their name and then that email address? Good idea? I'm no prgrammer so idk how to do it...

you can simply send a message to xxxxxxxxxx@teleflip.com and they will automatically detect the carrier. Teleflip is free to use. For more information: https://www.teleflip.com/blog/services/flipout/
Update:
TELEFLIP shut down and is no longer working.

-2008-Aug-12: Teleflip Inc. CEO Tony Davis announced in an email to Teleflip users that "the piggy bank is empty" and that Flipmail will be turned off on August 15, 2008 at 9 a.m, but Flipout will continue to operate.

-2008-Sep-06: The official Teleflip website was non-functional and SMS message delivery failed.

Nvm guys unless we can figure someting else along this line

Not all phones support e-mail.

That's much like my original idea, but instead of the automatically finding out what provider the person has, you can just scroll through a wheel list of providers.
Would be a little annoying, but would definitely be easier than having to remember the email address for that provider.

You can do this now without any app and without teleflip.com

Keep in mind that the reciever will not recieve this as an email, it will be recieved as a PICTURE MESSAGE (in other words, MMS form)

What I did before I finally got swirly working is I saved peoples emails in my contact book in a way that it would send an email in an mms format straight to someones phone and they would recieve it just like any other mms message WITHOUT having to open up their email at all.

Here's the list of carriers emails
Alltel = phonenumber@message.alltel.com
Amp’d Mobile = phonenumber@vtext.com
AT&T = phonenumber@mms.att.net
Boost Mobile = phonenumber@myboostmobile.com
Centennial Wireless = phonenumber@myblue.com (added by kcirrab-this is accurate for i have centennial)
Cingular (AT&T) = phonenumber@mms.mycingular.com
Einstein PCS = phonenumber@einsteinmms.com
Nextel = phonenumber@messaging.nextel.com
Sprint = phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com or phonenumber@pm.sprint.com
T-Mobile = phonenumber@tmomail.net
US Cellular = phonenumber@mms.uscc.net
Verizon Wireless = phonenumber@vzwpix.com
Virgin Mobile = phonenumber@vmobl.com

So basically what you do is save each person that you want to send an MMS to in your contacts under their email address for example like so 18455551212@vzwpix.com. Then after they are saved you go to your photos then select a pic. Select the option for send via email and add the recipient from your contact list. Then send and they will receive it like an MMS. Once you save the contacts email addy to their phone in your contact list, this method really isn't that bad at all, although I'll admit just using swirly is a little more convenient, this works fine for people who can't get swirly to work.
