This is my first post...I removed 1.4, boss prefs then copied the file over to my iPhone using DiskAid, then used the terminal to run it. It did its thing, then I restarted the phone...nothing. Went into categories to see if it showed up on the list in there...nothing. Tried restarting the springboard via categories...nothing. Please help. I dont have a ssh tool for my Vista laptop to try it that way. but I wouldnt mind getting a ssh tool that would work to try it that way if everyone here agrees that using DiskAid cannot work.

Did I miss a step?

Edit: I also tried going into Cydia to see if it would prompt me for an upgrade and it didnt.

Got it! For some reason it wasnt showing up anywhere in cydia, quick gold, or categories but it eventually did after restarting and respringing several times.

Cydia should remove this app from their Featured section or at least move it to Comercial App section...no point giving these guys free ads when they are being deceiving here

Seems to me the only way to get rid of it would be to hope that Cydia gets an update that allows you to set it to ignore certain app upgrades. Since Cydia is opensource, you could try asking around to see if someone could add that feature, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
I'd be very much in favour of a system like that though, not just because of PDANet. For example if you get a theme you really like and a few months later they bring out an update for it with something you just find really awful, it'd be nice to be able to say to Cydia "I don't want this one, tell me when the next one comes out". Granted with Winterboard themes you could just replace the bit you don't like with the old one, but it'd be far more helpful and easy just to have a simple Cydia override. I mean Windows has it. If you don't want an update, you just deselect it and tell Windows Update to ignore it in future. Surely it wouldn't be too hard to add such a feature to Cydia. Or perhaps they could set it so that if you open the update info page in Cydia, that's enough to disable the update notification. I dunno. I'm just spinning ideas here. Unfortunately I have absolutely no knowledge of programming (other than very basic stuff) so I have no idea if these methods are even possible let alone how to implement them.

And by the way, according to the PDANet website the trial is for 14 days.

Also, why using MobileTerminal rather than the Terminal window from your Mac (after SSH to it)? MobileTerminal is a bit awkward to type in

EDIT: BTW, I just tried PDAnet v. 1.40 and it works, I didn't get the 'expired trial' thing. Anybody knows why?
I'm Running 1.42 with no expired trial either, great speeds too!! Just look at my attached pic.

Simple solution I found to make it work (to show icon when you install v1.33):

uninstall latest PdaNet, install v1.33 ( http://apt.modmyi.com/2debs/pdanet1.33.deb , log in to iphone using ssh and install it "dpkg -i pdanet1.33.deb" ) and find where it is installed ( mine was in
\private\var\stash\Applications.[random string]\PdaNet.app\
)
Copy the contents of the dir to your local drive (by sftp or whatever you use to access iphone), then upgrade it to the latest version that is showing the icon properly and make sure it is set to off (router = off) when you run it. Then overwrite the contents of the same dir with old files from v1.33 you copied before to your drive. Reboot iphone and it should work.

Oh yes, one more thing - it also fixes the update in cydia... it won't ***** about new version now. It will think it is running the latest version.

How about a way to reset the trial period... Anyone?? I poked around the FS but didn't see anything obvious, plus the iphone does not have a native plist editor (that I'm aware of) so I wasn't able to dig very deep

downgrade to v1.33 and you won't have that problem, I think v1.4x is just the same core, just the trial crap added

@bsurt. I see the instructions in this thread 'how' to install a prior version ... but nowhere does it say 'where' to get it!! Is that a MMI no-no!!
