Extended Prefs "Dim in..."

Hey all . . .

Don't know if this is a known problem, but the within the Extended Preferences Winterboard theme there is a screen dimmer option. It is under Brightness, and gives you the option to dim the screen after a period.

But, it's odd for me. When I change the Dim in field, it also changes the auto-lock field. Then if I set auto-lock to never, it turns off the Dim in!

It seems to be overwriting each other's fields. Anyone else get this? Is this just a bug that is known, and might be fixed?

JBreckeen.

This is a known problem (although nobody talks about it --- maybe nobody cares (haha)) -- and I haven't figured out why. NEVER just doesn't work with Dim... But .. I did create a work-around by adding a very long auto-lock time-out. It's equal to 1 day in seconds (60*60*24). Figured if I had not touched my phone in 24 hours ... it would be ok to lock. Hope this helps.

So your phone is set to autolock after 24 hours of inactivity, but what about the autodim? Is is the same or different?

Also, how'd you do it?

Sorry about the confusion. For me, auto-lock + auto-dim work in any combination EXCEPT the NEVER auto-lock setting. Thats why I created the 24 hour number. Note: I must set (or reset) the auto-lock value 1st!!, then an auto-dim value. (My setting: 24 hr lock, 30 second dim). Reliable, predictable and practical.

If you need help creating the 24 hr value, search my posts (Mes). Don't have many, shouldn't be a problem. Can't post now sorry, packing for a business trip.

Good luck.

Oh yea, auto-lock + auto-dim can work with/without Extended Prefs. if you're using Extended Prefs, these changes occur in a different directory. Look for extended prefs name or something similar.
