SkypeOut For iPhone 3g

I am going to travel Asia for a month and just bought some Skype credits thinking that I can call home with my iPhone when I get a wifi connection to check on my 9 month old son.

I tried Fring from the App Store but it is so buggy and can barely make any SkypeOut calls. Is there any atternatives or did I just waste some money buying Skype credits. Maybe I should have just bought a phone card.

Could it not make calls? When i first used fring i had the most trouble until i found out you have to put 001 in front of all number going to the US,
for example 001(555)-5555. Took me the longest time to figure that out... hah

i tried it with 001 and +1 and it just keeps saying call terminated.

Im not sure whats going on then. You might want to try contacting the developer, see if they have any answers.

I don't know about in the US. I have tried to call from Switzerland to Hong Kong using my home wifi network with skype, it was pretty good. I am not sure how good it could be with a public wifi network...
