Help needed - Wiki2Touch on iPhone 3G

Hi,

I need some help setting up Wiki2Touch on my jailbroken iPhone 3G (I'm running firmware 2.1).

I've tried a few times but can't get it to work

Can anyone help me?

Also, would Wiktionary work on Wiki2Touch as-well?

This should work. Download and index the latest dump with wiki2touch transfer tool.

1. Install Bossprefs if you haven't already.

2. Connect to your iPhone/iPod with SSH, WinSCP etc & upload this file to either /~ or /var/mobile

3. Install Putty if you haven't already.

4. In Putty log in as root or mobile, depending on where you put the .deb package in step 2. Password is alpine.

5. Enter these commands in Putty

ls *.deb

su (password alpine)

dpkg -i wikisrvd-bossprefs-r137-20080814-1.deb

exit

6. Open the TransferTool and download the dump. Presumably English.

7. Chose the downloaded file and start indexer.

8. Once the indexing is complete, upload articles_en.bin via the TransferTool or if you want to do it much quicker, upload it to /var/mobile/Media/Wikipedia/en using DiskAid.

9. Reboot then make sure you have Wiki2Touch turned on in BossPrefs.

10. Open Safari and go to http://127.0.0.1:8080/index.html

11. Create a WebClip link by pressing + then Add to Home Screen.

That's ls for list

*.deb = all debian packages

It lists all debian packages so that you can see the wikiserver package you placed in /~ or wherever you put it.

If anyone has trouble with this but really needs Wikipedia offline, there's always the paid option
