Thread: ApolloIM vs. Mobile Chat

I checked the processes, and mChat floats consistently at 4 or 5% CPU while Apollo spends more of its time at 0%. This would make me think that Apollo is easier on the battery except it does some weird, but less frequent, spikes to -2000% CPU. So who knows which is more battery friendly.

ah that would explain it, well if there is a message bubble... and although its not on wifi yet apollo is better at this point... when can we get something besides AOL?

i have no problems connecting via wifi. however, some people have said its certain router configurations causing issues, so im sure something will have to be sorted out in the source to eliminate that problem.

For now, I use both since I have two accounts. I like the Away message with Mobilechat. I like the SAVE account function with ApolloIM. I'm sure in a couple of weeks both will have similar functions..hehehe

Just got the new apollo update! it no longer signs off after you go back to the home screen or to another application. It does sign off after going from wifi to edge or vice versa. So right now, Apollo is better than mobile chat. Still need a more efficient notification when in the buddy list, as well as buddylist organization. But its a heck of a lot better than nothing!

As soon as one of them supports MSN then it will be better. Who uses AIM anyways?

I'm liking apollo at the moment but i have both, waiting to see who will be better in the end

I use both.
LOL its funny running into ppl who don't use any type of messenger. I'm usually under the assumption that they must use something, whether its aim or something else.
oh snap! mChat just released a update! u can store accounts and shti!! woot woot!Last edited by Alperovich; 09-13-2007 at 11:52 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Yah wow! its pretty cool! i think im still gonna stick with apollo cause it has the little bubble which i find very heplful. Some features desparately needed are available/away messages and the abality to use your photos as buddy icons. Those would be sweet!

OK I figured it out:
Go to var/root/library/preferances/com.twenty08.MobileChat.Accounts
Take that file and open it in jEdit and remove the account you want deleted. Then put it back ont the phone and reboot.
Now to the sound files:
Applications/MobileSMS.app/ReceivedMessage.aiff and SentMessage.aiff
Replace them with whatever you chose.Last edited by pmas; 09-14-2007 at 12:29 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
