Extended Preferences for V2
Earlier today, Cydia had a new (old) app available .... Extended Preferences
It requires Winterboard
but appears to work (in the limited areas I've tested).
Practically the only thing I use Extended Preferences for ..... dimming the screen. And it works
.... Well, almost.

Somehow, auto-lock and dim are linked. I have never been able to get an auto-lock value of NEVER to work with any dim value. IE: Set auto-lock to NEVER, then set dim to 5, 10, 15, 30 seconds then wait. The phone dims after 5, 10, 15, or 30 seconds AND locks in 1 minute !!!!! Huhhh??? Check settings, and somehow, auto-lock was set to 1 minute. Not by me, I set it to NEVER !!! (haha)
However, set auto-lock to 5 minutes and dim to anything ..... and whooola, it works!!! So, as a work-around and as I did on my own for the past 2 months, I added a value of 1440_Minutes (1 day) to auto-lock to make it work along with my 30 second dim value and all's well
1-day is as good as never for me

@stash459..... videotones? What is that? (haha)
I just checked, my ringtone and custom SMS sound are ok. Pls explain
OBTW: Unfortunately, I think Extended Preferences 'replaces' the General Settings.plist instead of merging 'em. In addition, it uses Winterboard, which automatically skips any settings that were modified the normal way.
To get my 'custom' 1 day auto-lock setting back, I had to change /Library/Themes/Extended Preferences.app/Bundles/com.apple.Preferences/General.plist. That is where Winterboard picks it up from.
Sure wish Extended Preferences didn't play these Winterboard games. It might be a bit safer, but the down-side is a loss-of-control and options.

I also found that once I installed extended prefs, my MivTones option was gone in preferences.
BUT this has great potential. I made my own ext prefs theme now with only the General.plist & Brighness.plist included. That sets the Dim feature & changes the autolock to include 24H.
Now Winterboard just loads two plists, no modification needed in the original plists, and MivTones shows up again.Last edited by jrentzke; 10-16-2008 at 05:36 AM.
