Default cannot play wav, what format to use?

My PC answering machine software emails received voice messages along with text info for calls. Works real well. Unfortunately my iPhone won't play the wav file. When I receive an email with a voice message, I can touch the file attachment, QuickTime opens, then it says it can't play the file.

The PC software will record in four formats:
    PCM (no compression)
MS ADPCM (compression coefficient = 4)
IMA ADPCM (compression coefficient = 4)
    GSM 610 (compression coefficient = 8)

Will any of these play on the iPhone? The default is MS ADPCM which I'm still using. Thanks

first i'd try using pcm to determine whether or not it's the compression that the phone doesn't like. i'd wager a pretty penny that that'll do the trick.

I'll try PCM and each other format as well. Then I'll post results back here. I was hoping someone with codec experience would reply and I wouldn't have to depend on trial and error. A format may not work when in fact it should work.

I will try that app. But, I must see where email attachments are saved temporarily. When I touch the attachment the wheel spins for awhile as it downloads, then QuickTime opens and attempts to play it, and cannot. So a file must be written somewhere. If anyone knows please tell me. Thanks
