New Quickgold 1.2 Update Problem
Hello,
I installed the new quickgold this morning and after restarting the springboard, it entered safemode.
I have Stock and backgrounder installed. Not sure if any of these programs conflict with quickgold.
Anyone else run into this issue?

Same problem here. Mine's not even going into safe mode. It stays on the battery icon and the little circle rotates like it's respringing over and over again.. and eventually it reboots the phone and repeats the process :/
This happened right after the upgrade. It was running fine with the older quick gold.

I have Intelliscreen and Stacks installed. Just recently updated QuickGold and no problem here. Maybe incompatible with Backgrounder?

Similar problem for me.
I had intelliscreen and quickgold working reasonably well together till i upgraded to the latest release of quickgold.
The cursor kept spinning on the boot screen and then would reboot itself after awhile.
Luckily I was able to ssh into the phone and remove quickgold from the command line.
After that it was ok.
I then removed intelliscreen and reinstalled quickgold just to make sure it was quickgold that was the culprit and not some interaction with intelliscreen.
Sure enough on reboot it went into safemode.
So in this case quickgold 1.2 is a no no for me.
Hope the developer fixes it quick... I like quickgold..

I also use backgrounder and i am having the same problem with the new quickgold. If someone comes up with a fix please post it on here so we can get this resolved.
Thanks brad
after uninstalling backgrounder i am still having the same problem, plus i unchecked all winter board items just to make sure it wasn't a just a conflict issue. I havnt resolved the problem yet

I'm having the same problem, but like some of the others I don't even get safe mode, just an endless respring.
I'm kind of a newbie, can anybody tell me how to get it out of this loop so I can get rid of QuickGold (for now)?
The phone's not on wifi right now so I can't SSH in, and I can't reboot it in the conventional way either.
Edit: FYI I have Backgrounder and IntelliScreen, but not Stacks.Last edited by swirlee; 10-03-2008 at 12:17 PM.

zataang (QuickGold's author) helped me rescue my iPhone from the infinite respring loop without SSH. Here's now to do it on Windows:
1. Download and install iPhoneBrowser.
2. Connect your iPhone via USB and launch iPhoneBrowser.
3. Browse to [root]\Library\MobileSubstrate\DynamicLibraries\
4. Delete QuickGold.dylib (right-click on it and choose Delete).
If iPhoneBrowser doesn't work for you for some reason you can also SSH to it over USB using iPhone Tunnel Suite; here's a guide.
I don't have a Mac, but I think this guide could help you accomplish the same on OS X. Maybe.

Did you talk to the developer recently? What did he say about these 1.2 issues?

There's been some back-and-forth on the project page and on the Google Group he(/she?) just started, and he says he thinks he's got the problem narrowed down and it should be fixed shortly:
1.2 seems to crash for some people. The culprit seems to be contacts indexing. I am sending out a debug build to some folks, and hopefully I will get this fixed very soon.

zaatang has released QuickGold 1.2.1, which fixes the problem for me.
P.S. On the Google Group zataang said that the problem wasn't due to conflicts with any other program (IntelliScreen, Backgrounder, etc.), but solely due to a bug in his code.

Does not show up in Cydia for me.
**EDIT** did a search and found it on the list.
Installed no probems.Last edited by crupp; 10-03-2008 at 02:32 PM.

I had to restore my phone as well.. no big deal.. +1 for syncing contacts and calendar with nuevasync!!!
I can confirm that 1.2.1 fixes the issue for me.
That was FAST!

does this version have ads? if so i think id rather keep 1.1
are there any new features in 1.2.1?

This version improves searching contacts by phone numbers, adds a keyboard switcher, settings to select what to index and what order to return results in, and yes... ads.
Personally the ads aren't getting in my way. Combine that with the fact that the developer clearly states the addition of ads in the changelog and I don't mind them at all. Now when a new appflow came out with ads listed as a "bug fix"... that's a different story.
Time is money... it only seems fair to support good applications from honest committed devs.

Tried 1.2 and it caused SWOD/Safe mode.
Tried 1.2.1 and the same happens...
Can anyone help? Can't live without quickgold T_T
