Status Bar Notifier vs BigBoss' Notifier

A new Notifier app is in Cydia, from BigBoss repo. It claims it does not use extra daemon (uses MobileSubstrate). Also Status Bar Notifier does not use extra daemon. Indeed, I haven't noticed any extra battery drainage with Status Bar Notifier. Does anybody know how customizable is the new Notifier from BigBoss? I like the fact that I can customize Status Bar Notifier icons.

The ones from BigBoss (in my opinion) are ugly looking. Haven't tried it, but I don't think they can be modified. I haven't noticed any battery drain either.

Would the bigboss notifier be instant instead of the 60 second refresh time Status notifier has?

i know i know, we're iphone users, we're all about fashion over functionality, but can someone shed some light onto whether or not the first status bar notifier actually does use extra daemon process(es)? i don't see any claims on the part of the new notifier that the first status bar notifier is guilty of this...

Package Details:

"This adds taskbar notifications to your statusbar for things like new mail, missed calls, and voicemail. It uses mobile substrate so there is no extra daemon process running."

More Info:

"This adds taskbar notifications to your statusbar for things like missed calls, voicemail, and mail. Implemented as a light weight mobile substrate plugin, this can be done without any extra daemon process running and draining your battery."

marcoaic, where did you get your info about the one versus the other? thanks!

FYI,

bigboss notifier updates the icon instantly. It does not have a 60 second refresh rate as status notifier has.

My apologies, I had forgotten the more info about the first notifier, when I saw the second notifier this morning on Cydia I assumed that the first one was using an extra daemon, because, then, what's the point of having another notifier? I will edit the OP

Why do you have to install Sqlite with Status bar notifier and not with BigBoss' Notifier. Is that the extra daemon being talked about?

i was wondering the exact same thing when i saw it in cydia this morning. i do like the fact that it is instant, but the icons may be what keeps me from using it.

This is the reason I switched over. I'm sure the icons will be updated in the future, or open to customization. I just hate that the icons in the original stay around long after I've checked the text, email, phone call, etc.
