I've always loved Cydia and Installer, and even with 2.0, They both satisfy my needs.
But if I had to choose between them, I'd use Cydia.

The only reason I used Installer even back on 1.1.4 on the 2G was to get iDeleteMail and more iPhysics level packs not available on Cydia. Oh, and uXM and uSirius. None of those apps have been ported to 2.0.x yet so to me Installer is irrelevant at this point.

If I've helped you, you can help me by clicking on that Thanks button.

Ever since Cydia was released for 2.0, everyone whom have updated to 2.0 had Cydia and it was the only choice if ones decided to Jb his iPhone. And stucked with Cydia since, I guess people learned to live and like Cydia and wether Installer is coming back or not it won't matter anymore..because they've already have something to installs Apps on their iPhone...why wasted more space for something that does the same thing when Cydia repository got all the Third party apps first already. ...With Installer coming out late..I guess not much will be coming back to it since they've gotten used to Cydia by now...

I only use Cydia now. I see no reason to go back to Installer. It's been useless since 2.0.

I have both, but really only use Cydia. I am just waiting for more stuff to be switched over to Winterboard now.
I love having the repos available. Thanks to all that make it happen!

I guess when I finally upgrade from 1.1.4 to 2.x I'll feel the real change

Cydia is by far the most elegant solution for installing apps, it is app sensitive and knows whether to restart, re spring or just go back to cydia. Much more informative and quick to give out warings and advice about potential problems, and fast fixes to any problems which apprear.
Installer is being prepped as an alternative to appstore and Im pretty sure they are planning a way to make money from us like appstore. As far as I'm concernd appstore and cydia will fill all my needs so installer is losing its place in this community and if they dont rethink their plans installer will moulder and die !!!!!
If any developer wants to make cash from jailbroken iphones my suggestion is to release apps which can be tested first and the user can decide to pay for full functionality or delete. Developers who charge for apps should pay Cydia for hosting and installing. Thats would be a viable alternative to appstore and give us access to non "apple restricted" appsLast edited by ericidle; 09-02-2008 at 01:18 PM.
