Is there any other method instead of SSHing into the iPhone? I have tried so many different ways of SSH and I still can't get into my iPhone, first I was getting a connection closed by remote host and now it just timeouts. So does anyone know of any other method?

What type of phone do you own? first gen? 3G? firmware? PC? MAC?

There are a few outthere that work.....actually depends on the firmware too.... iPhoneBrowser, iPhone PCSuite, iPhone Tunnel Suite & winSCP (if you dont have wifi access),

I have an iPhone 3G with firmware 2.0.3 and I have a MAC but I run windows on VMware Fusion. And I have already tried iphonebrowser. I get errors when trying to access any of the folders and nothing shows up.

oh..i forgot...before you can SSH....you have to install openSSH on your phone...did you do that? openSSH is available on Cydia.

Yep of course I have. I have BossPrefs too to make sure that SSH is actually on.

hmmm...maybe your host key had been changed...

try this...google for PuttyGen...download that...and run it..it will give you a host key...save that.

now run winSCP....enter the usual stuff...ip, username:root, password:alpine, and somewhere in the middle of winSCP..there is a button for host key...click that and put the key that you just had generated from PuttyGen...and log in.

See if that would work.

Nope, did not work. I just keep getting a connection timeout error. I don't know why this is happening to me.....

Follow these steps for SSH into your iphone without need of WIFI (For windows). I'm taking into account that you have WinSCP installed on your windows PC.

1) Make sure you have SSH on your phone and it is ON.
2) download the iphone_tunnel.zip package from the following site and extract the files somewhere on your PC.

3) Connect your iphone to your PC using the USB cable and make sure it is detected by itunes. Then close the itunes by clicking on "x" on right hand top.

4) Open "cmd" prompt and then go to the iphone tunnel directory and run the following command:

iphone_tunnel.exe 22 22

5) Now open the winSCP on your PC and put "127.0.0.1" in the hostname .

username : root
password: alpine

select :SCP" and the click "login" it should connect and open the winSCP browser.
