Try this guys, this is how the change the installer back to 3.0b10 and have everything working again. USE AT OWN RISK!
1: First download h**p://www.rapidshare.com/files/87105691/Installer.zip.html
2: SSH in to your iphone and to Applications. Delete to Installer.app and transfer the downloaded installer.app there instead.
3: Use putty and the following commands.
cd /Applications
chmod +s Installer.app/Installer
chown -R root:wheel Installer.app
You also might have to chmod Installer to 777. I also used Sigma4Life's guide http://modmyi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28875, if you get "main script.." use this one too.
Now you hopefully have a working installer again. It worked for me at least!Last edited by Vounce; 02-01-2008 at 06:47 AM.

I had the same problem with 1.1.3. I painstakingly had to downgrade to 1.1.1 then to 1.1.2 and now everything works fine again. installer.app is showing 3.0...not giving me a chance to upgrade.

ok, while there's no reasonable explaination for this problem, I reinstalled the old
installer on top of my broken one with ssh and set 755 permission on installer file.
Installer works again! it asks to update but I cancel this untill I know what's happening.
Here's a link to previous version of installer:

dont forget to reboot your phone after closing winscp !

Mine did something strange. But then it rebooted (much longer reboot than normal) and it was fine. Go figure.
